Hi, I’m Dr. Latricia Taylor, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with women and couples who are navigating life’s challenges and want to feel more connected, confident, and understood. My approach is supportive and collaborative, with a focus on helping clients recognize their strengths, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to help you feel empowered to grow into the best version of yourself—both individually and within your relationships.
In our initial session together, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where they feel acknowledged, heard, and secure. I will take time to address any questions or concerns, review what brings them to therapy, and begin to understand their goals. The first session is focused on building rapport, gathering background information, and collaborating on what clients hope to gain from therapy. My goal is to ensure clients leave the session feeling supported, informed, and confident about the therapeutic process moving forward.
One of my greatest strengths is helping clients identify clear, meaningful goals while remaining open to growth and flexibility throughout the therapeutic process. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to support this work. With women, I focus on building self-confidence and assertiveness, empowering them to communicate effectively in all areas of their lives. When working with couples, I help each partner express their needs and desires while fostering empathy and compassion. Together, we work toward rebuilding trust and strengthening communication skills to create more fulfilling relationships. In my work with families, I create a safe environment where all members feel heard and valued, which is essential for nurturing lasting and healthy connections.
My ideal clients are women, couples, and families who want to improve communication, strengthen emotional connections, and establish healthier relationships. My work focuses on helping women find their voice, couples rediscover the love they once shared, and families establish healthy boundaries that foster strong connections. I provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their identities and express themselves freely. Through my work with women, couples, and families, I strive to create meaningful connections that empower individuals to thrive both personally and relationally. My commitment is to support each client on their journey toward healthier communication patterns and deeper emotional connections.

EMDR
I utilize EMDR as a trauma-focused treatment modality when clients present with unresolved traumatic experiences that continue to impact their emotional, cognitive, or relational functioning. EMDR is particularly helpful when clients have difficulty fully accessing or processing distressing memories through traditional talk therapy. My approach involves thorough assessment, stabilization, and preparation to ensure the client has adequate coping skills before engaging in reprocessing. I conceptualize cases through the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, identifying how maladaptively stored memories may be contributing to present symptoms. Once the client is adequately resourced, I guide them through structured reprocessing using bilateral stimulation to reduce emotional distress and shift negative core beliefs toward more adaptive cognitions. Throughout the process, I prioritize client safety,
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a structured, goal-oriented treatment approach to help clients identify and modify maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress and relational difficulties. CBT is particularly effective for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, and difficulties with emotional regulation. My approach begins with psychoeducation about the cognitive model—helping clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify cognitive distortions, core beliefs, and automatic thoughts that influence their responses to stressors. Through cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and skills training (e.g., assertive communication, problem-solving, exposure techniques), clients learn to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and develop more adaptive coping strategies.
