As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice for over 15 years, I have worked with clients that have extensive levels of concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, social and interpersonal relationship challenges not to exclude family discord. I have been adaptable to working in many different settings. I believe the approach of meeting my client where they are is a grounding principle for my therapeutic style. Although not always in person, the distance will never be seen as a distraction. I obtained my master’s degree from Florida State University, but faced many challenges with that. Some struggles in life peak during adolescence and I was no stranger to that. Transitions were not my friend, I had to overcome many relational, financial, and educational difficulties that grew me to understanding personal struggles. I believe in a client-centered approach as all clients are the experts on what works best for them and the challenges that they continue to face. I strive to provide an environment that is non-judgmental and accepting of where you are in your process while helping you get to where you want to be. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a modality that assist in how trauma is seen and processed. I have worked the better part of my career assisting in trauma processing, clients have been sexually abused, physically abused, or have suffered from significant loss. I believe counseling is a journey towards healing. If you are willing to allow me on this journey with you to master any conflict in your life, I am ready when you are!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is truly an introductory session. We shall explore what brought you to therapy and also get a better understanding of each other through the process. Lets talk about your expectations and how you want to see yourself as you explore who you are and your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Most clinicians pride themselves in being great listeners, and I do also believe that I have been gifted with the ability to listen. The most important part of that gift is listening for what isn't being said and helping you explore that as there are times your barriers are internal and difficult to tap into.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Therapy is certainly not one size fits all, however I serve a vast arrange of clients that show up for themselves. If that's you, we can do some great work in your life.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Reducing the intensity of past traumatic experiences while using a bilateral stimulation that is comfortable for the client. The overall goal is to decrease the negative feelings associated with past trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This modality is a form of "talk therapy" that ignites individuals ability to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that negatively impact their day to day lives and interactions with others.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach that emphasizes finding solutions to concerns rather than ignoring them and continue to respond as you have in past situations.

Trauma Informed Care

This modality is a comprehensive approach that acknowledges the impact of trauma and seeks to create safe, supportive, and empowering environments.
