Hi there, my name is Kristen and I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of FL. Do you lack direction in your life? Feel like you have an internal battle of anxiety in your mind? Struggle with feelings of sadness or lack of motivation? Everyone's struggles look a little different, which is why my goal as a therapist is to customize the treatment to fit YOUR specific needs. As a counselor, I act as a guide to help my clients on their journey toward growth and a better future. I have several years of experience working with clients who struggle with addiction to alcohol, drugs, and sex. While I specialize in addictions I enjoy helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, codependency, attachment issues, and bipolar disorder. As an intern, I lead group sessions in a treatment facility and also worked with teenagers in a local high school. Once I became licensed I started to focus on building my private practice. I currently work in Maitland FL seeing clients in person and on telehealth platforms.

Originally from New Jersey, I earned my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I moved to New York City in 1997 and completed my MSW at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. In 2000, I completed a certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health. Immediately after moving to Florida later that year in 2002, I completed additional coursework at Barry University and obtained my social work licensure in Florida. I have worked with children, adolescents and young adults in several areas utilizing a diverse spectrum of training for 25 years. These include loss and bereavement, trauma, crisis, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders. I started my private practice in 2003 in Miami. Using my background in several orientations and theories, along with experience gained over a long clinical social work career, I conduct comprehensive assessments that best address areas of emotional and behavioral concerns. I stay up to date on all the most effective training and information and aim to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment by meeting each individual where they are in their struggles and development. This process helps one discover the inherent strengths that allow change to happen ensuring best therapeutic results.
