Hello, I am glad you are here. I’m Alexandra Yepes and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I believe the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist, in which both work together in establishing realistic and self enhancing therapeutic goals. I am passionate about helping individuals so they may achieve their personal wellness goals. I provide a welcoming environment in which the client will feel comfortable to share of themselves. My goal is not simply to just listen to the person’s story , but to improve the person’s current condition. My therapeutic approach is an integrative one founded on evidence-based practices that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) Solution-focused brief therapy, Horticulture therapy, Wellness and mindfulness. These therapeutic practices have been researched extensively and they have been found to be effective in helping clients achieve their personal goals. I am passionate about working with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and adjustment disorders, and Women’s issues, family and relationship issues to achieve wellness. I have 8 years experience helping people and I hope to have the opportunity to help you achieve your wellness goals.
During her first sessions, clients can expect for me to get to know what their current concerns are and what their wellness goals are. We will discuss their current assessment and we will get to know what are the areas we would like to work on together. Then we will work on creating a future treatment plan to work through our sessions.
I have worked in all aspects of mental health to include outpatient therapy and inpatient therapy, and I bring years of experience working with individuals with a variety of mental health conditions. I have worked and helped many individuals over the years, achieve their own mental health goals, and move in a new and positive direction in their life. Together, I hope to help my future clients do the same.
I love to work with clients who are ready to make real changes in their life. My therapeutic approaches are very action based, I love clients who like to do their homework and work on their wellness outside of our sessions. I hope to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves, they’re thinking patterns, they behavioral patterns, and how they affect their life. I like to work alongside my clients in creating a treatment plan to meet their individual wellness goals.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is type of psychotherapy that helps people recognize and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. CBT can help with a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder. Cognitive behavior therapy is an evidence based practice that I have been using for several years in counseling. It is definitely homework and action based hoping to solve issues in real time.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy that helps people accept and move past negative experiences. It aims to help patients develop psychological flexibility and mental plasticity to make positive choices and create a meaningful life, even in the presence of suffering. Acceptance and commitment therapy is an approach that I’d like to use to help clients to begin to move forward by accepting the things that have happened and committing to your values and things that bring value to your life.
