Hi All! I am from a small town off of San Diego, California but spent most of my career working with people who lived in some of the more impoverished areas of Los Angeles. My speciality was/is working with highly at-risk youth and families and I loved doing it; I think I got as much from the experience as did my clients. Personally, I grew up as a fairly good athlete and could often be found on a tennis court, running & cycling around town and even at the gym. I love animals and I have two big dogs and two cats. I am spiritual and attend church regularly. I love the beach and ocean; I have recently moved to Sarasota and am truly enjoying it. As most therapists do, I have my own history of fighting through some emotionally difficult times and am beyond happy to tell you that with some assistance, I managed to come out the other side and am now quite well and happy today! Professionally, I have had several careers including, Federal & Local law enforcement and driving as FEDEX Delivery driver while getting my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. After several years of completing the required 3,000 hours of hands-on service, I passed the exams and ultimately became a fully Licensed Marriage Family Therapist. My practice has provided me with the opportunity to work with persons with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia and more. I am trained and qualified to provide mental health treatment to kids, families, couples and individual adults. I love my job; I love helping people. It would be an honor if you would consider entrusting me to assist you with anything from your smaller troubles to bigger issues and beyond; I believe that we can achieve great success together.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

We will initially review limits and mandates of confidentiality [i.e. such things that are not confidential such as child abuse, elder abuse....]. I will share a bit about myself if you are interested so that you can get a feel for who I am and my own professional, personal history. Feel free to ask questions; I will answer them as I am able. Then onto to the crux of why we are meeting: what is bringing you to therapy now and what do you think you need.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have my own trauma history which I am happy to share in session. I suffered emotionally and physically for many years before I was able to successfully address my history and the emotional state that resulted. I am very down-to-earth, personable and even funny. We will get along great.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

An ideal client for me is one who truly wants to work on and improve specific issues. Life can be long, life can be hard....that's okay; I've been there too. I think we, with open & honest communication, we can successfully address the things that might be barriers to helping you move forward and beyond those things that might be holding you back.

Interpersonal

Again, the interpersonal relationship between client and therapist is of the utmost importance to achieve success. If we don't experience comfort in our interpersonal relationship within a short period of time, we will find someone with whom you are comfortable.
