I graduated Eastern Michigan University with a major in psychology and a minor in nutrition in 2007. I completed my PhD program at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2014. During that time period I worked with patients in outpatient and inpatient settings including the University psychology clinic, Wayne State Family Medicine Center, Providence Alaska Family Medicine Center, and Providence Alaska inpatient services. My training allowed for me to develop techniques to help people who have medical complications as well as those with mental health issues. Since the end of my PhD program I have worked in outpatient counseling centers where I have seen individuals with a wide variety of issues including depression, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, ADHD, pain, grief, difficulty adapting to medical issues, diabetes behavioral management, weight loss, etc. I have worked with individuals of all ages, but I really enjoy working with ages 12 and above.

Somewhere along the way, we turn the volume down on the inner voice- our intuition- and it was likely replaced with self-limiting beliefs, negative self-talk, difficult relationships, or poor boundaries. Messages from childhood, traumatic experiences, and exposure to stressors in our environment often lead to a disconnection from our true self- which I believe to be the root of much of our pain, both individually and collectively. I believe that all of the strengths and resources we need to do this work are within us, and I view my role as a therapist to support and witness you in discovering and embodying these resources. My background is rooted in community-based social work, addiction treatment, and the intersection of therapy and spirituality. I've worked extensively with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD/C-PTSD, addiction, and family systems. In my practice I work to integrate the mind, body and spirit into the therapeutic process. I received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 2007 from the University of South Florida, and went on to receive my Master's degree in Social Work from USF in 2010. During that time I worked full time and interned working with clients that had experienced traumatic events - mostly sexual assault or abuse. Before starting my private practice, I worked as a school social worker with students ages 3-22 for 12 years, gaining my licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, becoming a qualified LCSW supervisor.
