New to Grow
I have a diverse area of focus that includes trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life adjustments and transitions, and a variety of other mental health concerns. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. I utilize a holistic and client-centered approach to therapy, working collaboratively with each individual to help them achieve their personal goals, strengthen coping skills, and navigate the stresses of everyday life. I believe that therapy can be a powerful tool for growth, healing, and self-discovery, and that we all have the ability to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if this is your first time reaching out for support. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even emotional before your first session. My hope is to provide a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe, heard, and comfortable being yourself. During our first session, we will simply begin getting to know one another. We’ll talk about what has been weighing on you, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from this experience. I may ask questions about different areas of your life, including current stressors, emotions, relationships, and personal experiences, but there is never any pressure to share more than you feel ready to. Therapy is a process, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you. Most importantly, I want you to know that you do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You are welcome to come exactly as you are. My role is to walk alongside you with compassion, support, and understanding as we work together toward healing, growth, and finding healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges.
What sets me apart as a therapist is my ability to create a genuinely compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I believe that meaningful therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and emotionally safe. I strive to meet each client where they are in their journey while tailoring treatment to their individual needs, goals, and personal experiences rather than taking a “one-size-fits-all” approach. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked with a wide range of individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. My experience working in outpatient settings, Residential, long-term care, rehabilitation, and with diverse populations has helped me develop a deeper understanding of the emotional challenges people face at different stages of life. This background allows me to approach therapy with empathy, patience, cultural competency and flexibility while helping clients feel supported through difficult circumstances. I utilize an integrative and holistic approach that combines evidence-based techniques with genuine human connection. I incorporate therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based techniques, DBT skills, trauma-informed care, and supportive therapy to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, gain insight, and create meaningful change in their lives.
I am best positioned to support adolescents, adults, seniors, and couples who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, grief, low self-esteem, trauma-related symptoms, or difficulty coping with everyday life demands. Many of the clients I work with feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in negative thought patterns, disconnected from themselves or others, or uncertain about how to move forward in a healthy and balanced way. Some clients may be navigating major life changes, family stressors, caregiver responsibilities, health concerns, or challenges adjusting to new environments or circumstances. I work well with clients who are seeking a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where they can openly process their thoughts and emotions while learning practical coping strategies to improve daily functioning and emotional well-being. Whether clients are looking to build healthier relationships, improve emotional regulation, strengthen self-confidence, heal from past experiences, reduce anxiety or depressive symptoms, or simply gain a greater sense of balance and peace, I strive to meet each individual where they are and help them work toward meaningful and lasting personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify negative thought patterns and unhealthy coping responses that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed. Through a supportive and collaborative approach, I help clients challenge unhelpful thinking, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical coping strategies they can use in everyday life. CBT can help clients improve emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and feel more empowered in managing life’s challenges. I often incorporate techniques such as cognitive reframing, mindfulness, behavioral activation, and coping skill development to support clients in creating lasting positive change and improving overall emotional well-being.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult feelings, ACT focuses on learning how to accept emotions without judgment while building skills to move forward in meaningful and value-driven ways. I work collaboratively with clients to increase emotional awareness, improve mindfulness, and reduce the impact that negative thoughts may have on daily functioning. ACT helps clients develop psychological flexibility, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with the things that matter most to them. Through techniques such as mindfulness, grounding exercises, values exploration, and cognitive defusion, clients can learn to navigate stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions with greater confidence, self-compassion, and resilience.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build effective skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and coping with stress in healthier ways. DBT combines acceptance and change strategies, helping clients feel validated in their experiences while also working toward positive behavioral and emotional growth. I work collaboratively with clients to help them better understand emotional triggers and develop practical tools to respond more effectively to difficult situations. DBT can help clients strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. Through a compassionate and supportive approach, I assist clients in learning how to manage overwhelming emotions, improve communication, reduce impulsive behaviors, and increase overall emotional stability and self-awareness.
Humanistic
I utilize a humanistic approach to therapy that focuses on creating a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. I believe each individual has the capacity for personal growth and healing, and I work collaboratively with clients to help them explore their experiences, emotions, and strengths in a meaningful way. My goal is to meet clients where they are while fostering self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional growth. A humanistic approach helps clients build confidence, improve self-esteem, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. Through empathy, active listening, and genuine therapeutic connection, I support clients in navigating life’s challenges, identifying personal goals, and creating positive changes that align with their values and authentic selves.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I utilize mindfulness-based therapy to help clients become more present, self-aware, and emotionally grounded in their daily lives. Mindfulness focuses on increasing awareness of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment, allowing clients to respond to stress and challenges in healthier and more balanced ways. I work collaboratively with clients to help them slow down, develop emotional insight, and strengthen their ability to cope with overwhelming feelings. Mindfulness-based therapy can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, and emotional reactivity while improving overall emotional regulation and well-being. I often incorporate techniques such as deep breathing, grounding exercises, guided meditation, and present-moment awareness to help clients feel more centered, calm, and connected to themselves.
