Why Work with Me?
You may be the person everyone relies on, yet privately you're exhausted, anxious or questioning yourself. Perhaps you're struggling with a difficult relationship, recovering from emotional or narcissistic abuse, grieving a loss, or navigating a major life transition. You may know something needs to change but aren't quite sure how to move forward.
I am a clinical social worker, therapist & life coach. I collaborate with clients in facilitating their ability to navigate their journey through change. I provide clients the opportunity to learn, change and grow, and I provide guidance for them to learn healthy adaptive ways to improve their response to encounters with life stressors and challenging life situations. Clients are engaged in various evidence based therapeutic interventions and the exploration and discovery of their untapped potential, so they can harness the necessary skills and strategies to facilitate behavioral change.
In the scope of my practice I aim to empower clients through sessions that are based on a holistic, client driven approach. I view clients through the lens of their personal environment, as their well-being is significantly shaped by their life experiences. In addressing clients presenting issues, I take into consideration the correlation between their presenting issues and their environment; i.e., social, cultural and physical, that contribute to current challenging life circumstances. Focus is given to past experiences and current situations to help them navigate their therapy encounter and future successfully.

My approach is compassionate and client-centered, focusing on helping individuals build the skills they need to process their experiences, foster resilience, and move toward healing. My goal is to support each client in finding a sense of peace, empowerment, and renewed well-being.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is certified in addiction treatment. I have been working in a community mental health center for the past 10 years. I have served a variety of populations including those suffering from pervasive mental illness, anxiety, addiction, and severe depression. For 3 years I was the therapist for Adult Drug Court in Nassau County, helping those previously incarcerated for drug use charges to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives within the community. I currently serve on the Crisis Response team for my agency which intervenes during mental health crisis and am the Clinical Team Leader for the FACT IL program which helps individuals in crisis achieve stabilization after release from a Crisis Stabilization Unit. I am certified to work with First Responders, I am a Military spouse, and have a background in Christian Formation.
You may have heard things like, “Just move on,” “let it go,” or “that’s in the past.” But if the pain is still there, if your heart feels heavy, if it affects your daily life, if you have to pretend everything is fine, or if it takes great effort just to get through your responsibilities, you may be experiencing trauma-related responses.
Therapy offers a safe and supportive space where you can process what you’ve been through, validate your emotions, and develop healthy ways to heal and move forward. A trauma-focused approach allows us to work gently and effectively with your experiences while strengthening your emotional stability and sense of control.

There is one thing I am gifted at and that’s touching the lives of others through therapy. A wise man once said, “Mental strength is not the ability to stay out of the darkness; it’s the ability to sit present in the darkness knowing that the light will shine again”. I am an influencer of change and a strong believer that your perspective will take you as far as you can see.
It's okay not to be OK sometimes, to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even depressed. Still, these feelings can make it difficult to maintain healthy relationships and to feel like the best version of ourselves. The good news is that you're not alone, and seeking help is an important step, which I commend you for taking! I want you to know I am here to support you as a caring and trained professional.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for ten years now. You will always know yourself better than I can or will.
From a philosophical and theoretical standpoint. I am overwhelming more of an attachment theorist, and have been known to use existentialism from time to time to help make sense of something. I guess the question that remains though is; can a butterfly flap it's wings in Brazil and cause a tornado in Kentucky, or are we all simply just products of our childhood and mirrors of our parents traumas?
The duality of life.
Attachment Theory vs. Chaos Theory. Both have value. I digress.
My goal is to provide a petridish in which you can explore your self. Safe. Contained. Yet completely in your control. The paradox being, you likely already have what you need. I'll sit with you while you find it. I can give you my clinical opinion, or diagnosis, and recommendations along the way as well if you'd like that. I can just sit and listen. I can play devils advocate. My job is to listen, empower, observe, and provide feedback when requested.

I am a psychotherapist and mental health counselor licensed in the state of Florida with over 30 years of experience working in a community mental health setting. I am also trained as a qualified clinical supervisor for over 5 years. In my career, I generally function in the administrative side of behavioral health business but have a strong desire to practice the clinical base of my training and licensure. Hi, I'm Ricardo. I'm a Hispanic man who's done my own work in therapy to figure out who I am and who I want to be—which is a big part of why I do this work today.
I went into counseling field because I kept seeing people who felt unheard or misunderstood by the people around them, often carrying more than anyone realized. That's especially true for a lot of men and teenage boys I've worked with—individuals who feel like they're supposed to be strong, keep things to themselves, or handle things alone, but who rarely have a space to actually talk about what's underneath that. I grew up seeing some of those same pressures and unhealthy patterns around what it means to "be a man," and part of my work now is helping men and boys move away from those roles and into a healthier, more grounded version of who they are—as partners, providers, sons, and people.
I especially enjoy working with teenage boys who are figuring out who they are, often at an age when it's hard to talk to the adults around them about what's really going on. I try to meet them where they are—not lecturing, not judging—so they actually want to keep showing up and talking.
For parents: if your son is pulling away, shutting down, or you're just not sure how to reach him right now, that's exactly the kind of thing we can work through together.
Outside of the therapy room, I'm endlessly curious—I love traveling, learning about different cultures, sports, and music (I play a bit of guitar). I think that mix of curiosity, care, and having done some of my own work is a lot of what I bring into the room with clients.

Would you like to understand yourself better so that you can feel better and get more of what you want in life? I help with the range of problems that people can have -- depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, spiritual conflicts, and relationship problems -- or whatever is troubling you. * I have always felt like the black sheep of the family.*
Does this sound familiar?
From the outside, you look like you have it all together, but on the inside it feels like a completely different story. You may feel worn down by constant worries and sadness, overwhelmed, or on edge. You might not even remember a time when things felt easier. But one thing is clear: you are ready for relief. You are ready to feel calm. You are ready to feel grounded and at peace with yourself. Most of all, you are ready to rediscover your true, confident self. Let's move past the outside noise and focus on real change.
