For over 13 years, I have dedicated my practice to supporting women as they navigate the many demands of modern life. I understand firsthand what it means to move between worlds. Growing up in Brooklyn as the daughter of immigrant parents, and now living in South Florida, I have been shaped by diverse cultures, communities, and perspectives. My love of travel has deepened that curiosity about the human experience. In the therapy room, this translates into a genuine ability to meet you where you are regardless of your background, your story, or how far from yourself you may feel right now.

Welcome, I am so glad you are here! My name is Karen Porta and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I received my Master's degree from Nova Southeastern University and have been practicing for approximately 9 years. I have worked with a multitude of clients with issues coping with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, life transitions, relationship issues, etc. It is truly my passion to work with clients through some of life's biggest challenges. Let's grow together!
Also offer weekend appointments, please contact me for availability.
My approach to therapy is solution-focused, compassionate, and centered on helping clients build lasting skills. Rather than simply helping someone get through the current crisis, I want to equip them with the tools they need to navigate future challenges with greater confidence and independence.
I focus on identifying and addressing the underlying issues that drive recurring patterns, whether that's unresolved childhood trauma, deeply held negative beliefs about oneself, or other core experiences. My goal is to help clients process those experiences, challenge unhelpful cognitions, and develop healthier, more adaptive beliefs about themselves.
While it's important to acknowledge and address what's happening in a client's life right now, I believe lasting change comes from understanding and working through the deeper patterns that contribute to those challenges. I strive to balance supporting clients through present-day concerns with helping them create meaningful, long-term change.

You are here hoping to find that therapist who stands out to you because you want to find someone who can help you. The search can be overwhelming for some. Most of the profiles of therapists are going to say similar things. Most of which should be standard like brakes on a car.
I cannot promise I'm the right one for you. Here is what I can tell you about my approach. I believe in being practical which means I will not use a lot of psycho-babble or fancy strategies. I have a tendency to be blunt. My wife says I'm the "bluntest politest man" she has ever met. I'm going to be real with you.
I love couples/marriage counseling, and that is my main focus. However, about half of my clients have always been individuals. Some people just need a place to vent. Others need help solving a problem, and most people need a little of both.
I know therapy might be a little intimidating or even scary to some. Try to think of it as a massage for your brain. It's a place where you can say whatever you want guilt-free.

She has over 17 years of post graduate experience and has worked in a variety of settings such as inpatient, outpatient, private practice, school and correctional settings. It is easy to lose touch with yourself while carrying the weight of stress, painful experiences, or life's many demands. Together, you will explore the challenges you are facing, honor your unique story and the choices available to you in the present. Rather than trying to eliminate every uncomfortable thought or emotion, we will make room for the full range of your human experience while exploring how you can respond in ways that align with your values, purpose and hopes for the future. Healing is not about avoiding suffering or having all the answers. It is about developing the courage to face life's uncertainties, embrace your freedom to choose your path and cultivate a life that feels authentic, connected, and meaningful.

My work has spanned social services, outpatient therapy for children, and leadership in trauma-focused residential care—giving me a deep understanding of the unique challenges people face at different stages of life.
In our sessions, I create a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your story without judgment. I draw on powerful, evidence-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Work, and trauma-informed care to help you understand the parts of yourself, heal emotional wounds, and uncover your inner resilience. Whether you are seeking help as an individual or in a group setting, therapy with me is a collaborative process that supports growth, clarity, and self-compassion. I integrate faith into the therapeutic process—honoring Christian values and belief systems while respecting each person’s spiritual path. Whether you’re a woman seeking self-discovery, a man learning new ways to process and communicate emotions, or a child building coping skills and self-esteem, my goal is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you toward a life of deeper understanding and freedom.
Hi there, I'm Sharon, and I'm passionate about helping individuals rediscover their inner child and embark on a journey of healing the wounds from their past. As a compassionate and creative soul, I offer a unique approach to processing and addressing emotions.
Through my work, I aim to provide a safe and nurturing space for you to explore your feelings, particularly those affected by addiction and co-dependency. I firmly believe that art, not in the traditional sense but as a personal expression of one's emotions, holds the key to authenticity and self-discovery. My focus is on the process rather than performance, making it a soulful and liberating experience I call "soul art."
As part of my commitment to excellence, I am currently pursuing my certification in Creative Journaling Expressive Arts with the CJEAItm. This additional training allows me to integrate journaling and expressive art techniques into our sessions, offering you a dynamic and creative approach to healing and personal growth.
If you're ready to embark on a transformative journey, exploring your emotions through the creative lens, I'm here to support and guide you every step of the way. Let's work together to nurture your inner child and empower you to lead a more fulfilling life.
I’m Joseph Contes, but many call me “Joe”, and if you want you can too. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Supervisor, and founder of Crosscurrent Health. My approach to therapy is grounded, thoughtful, and collaborative, with a focus on helping people feel understood while building practical tools for lasting change. I work with children ages 8 and up, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, emotional overwhelm, identity development, relationship concerns, and life transitions.
Over the years, I have worked across a wide range of clinical settings including crisis services, emergency psychiatry, community mental health, correctional environments, and higher education. Those experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy today: calm, adaptable, and centered on meeting people where they are without judgment. I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I believe therapy works best when it feels like a steady, genuine partnership rather than a one-size-fits-all process.
My work integrates evidence-based approaches including CBT, CPT, TF-CBT, and family-focused interventions while remaining flexible to each person’s needs, strengths, and goals. I also provide LGBTQIA+ affirming care and strive to create a space where clients feel emotionally safe, respected, and empowered to explore their experiences openly.
At the heart of my work is the belief that growth happens when clarity meets support. Whether someone is working through past experiences, managing current stressors, or trying to reconnect with themselves and others, my goal is to help them move forward with greater confidence, resilience, and steadiness through life’s crosscurrents.

I would describe myself as a goofy and radically empathetic therapist that struggles with severe ADHD and also anxiety. Not to mention the grief! I am big on being vulnerable myself. We must lead by example. I also am a strong believer in the power of connection. If you cannot connect with your therapist, research says that therapy is not likely to be effective. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship above all else. That is my foundation. That means I pride myself on not being a robot. I cannot believe I have to say this, but many students in therapy have told me that they have had robotic therapist. That is not me. I believe the most powerful therapeutic techniques are empathy and unconditional love, and those are the values I do my best to display consistently.
I currently provide individual counseling to students at Miami Dade College and I have found that I really enjoy working with college students that recently graduated from high school. I find that the world treats them cruelly at such an overwhelming time of their lives and they deserve unconditional love, not tough love.

I quickly learned I was able to use my skills to help clients overcome obstacles and navigate broken systems. I became a licensed therapist to help clients live a life free of shame, one that is authentic without needing anyone else’s approval.

My journey in the field began with child protective services, where I provided support to children, families, and individuals experiencing substance abuse, domestic violence, needs for family counseling, and mental health challenges. As I transitioned and my career progressed, I expanded my practice to include working with older adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people with disabilities. Throughout my career, my core objective has remained the same: to offer clients a secure and welcoming space to express themselves fully, while working collaboratively toward personal growth, harm reduction, and enhanced self-worth.
I am a LMHC in Florida, graduate from Seton Hall University in New Jersey where I obtained both my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Master of Education in Counseling Psychology. I have worked in the field of Mental Health and Human Services for over twenty years. During this time, I've had the opportunity to interact with individuals in various places along life's journey. I have had the privilege of working with culturally, economically and ethically diverse individuals. As a practical, interactive, solution focused counselor, my approach is to provide support, with insight and feedback to assist you with your current concerns, while also addressing persistent issues in the past. My overall desire is to provide you with an emotional and physical space where you will feel seen and heard. Therapy can be emotionally demanding but can also be life transforming. I welcome being a part of your healing process!
Congratulations on taking the first step towards a brighter and healthier future! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) located in Florida with almost a decade of experience and a passion for helping others. Whether you're facing long-term trauma or just trying to get through the week, I’m here to help you make sense of things and move forward with more confidence and self-compassion. I am a native German speaker, so am more than willing to provide therapy in German as well, if requested. In my free time, I enjoy doing arts and crafts, traveling, and being in nature.
As the wife of a physician and someone who has worked closely with RNs, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals, I understand firsthand how emotional exhaustion and constant pressure can take a toll. I’m especially passionate about helping healthcare providers heal from compassion fatigue. I am a laid-back therapist, so it’s not unusual for me to wear jeans or sandals at the office. I have lived experience with mental health personally.
