New to Grow
I am Tawanna Pollock, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping adolescents, adults, and families improve their emotional well-being. My practice provides a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can process life challenges, develop healthy coping skills, and achieve meaningful personal growth. I use evidence-based approaches, including CBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, while incorporating faith-based support when desired.
During your first session, my priority is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and heard. We will take time to discuss what brought you to therapy, the challenges you are currently experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I may ask questions about your personal history, relationships, emotional well-being, support system, strengths, and previous experiences with counseling. You are always welcome to share at your own pace, and you will not be pressured to discuss anything before you feel ready. The first session is also an opportunity for you to learn more about my therapeutic approach, ask questions, and determine whether I am the right therapist for your needs. I will explain confidentiality, the structure of sessions, and what you can expect throughout the counseling process. Together, we will identify your goals and begin developing a personalized treatment plan that reflects your individual needs, values, and strengths. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly, gain a better understanding of your thoughts and emotions, and learn practical coping skills. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We will work together, one step at a time, to support your healing, personal growth, and overall emotional well-being.
My approach stands out because I provide compassionate, personalized care that focuses on the whole person—not just the challenges they are experiencing. I understand that each client has a unique story, background, and set of strengths, so I tailor the counseling process to meet their individual needs and goals. I create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow at their own pace. I combine more than 15 years of case management experience with evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused care, Motivational Interviewing. My approach is practical and collaborative, helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing healthy coping skills they can use in everyday life. When desired, I also respectfully incorporate faith and spirituality into the healing process. What truly makes my approach unique is the balance of clinical expertise, genuine compassion, accountability, and encouragement. I meet clients where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be. My goal is not only to help clients manage immediate concerns, but also to support lasting healing, increased confidence, healthier relationships, and meaningful personal growth.
I work best with adolescents, adults, and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, or difficulty managing emotions. I especially enjoy supporting clients who may feel overwhelmed, unheard, stuck, or uncertain about their next steps but are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. My ideal clients are open to developing healthier coping skills, improving communication, strengthening boundaries, and working toward emotional healing at their own pace. I also work well with individuals involved in court-ordered services, including anger management, substance-use education, and mental health support. I welcome clients who would like faith and spirituality respectfully incorporated into their care, as well as those who prefer a traditional clinical approach. Together, we build on each client’s strengths and create practical strategies for lasting growth and improved well-being.
Other specialties
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, anger, trauma-related symptoms, relationship difficulties, or substance use. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, I help clients challenge negative beliefs, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical coping skills that can be applied in everyday life. My approach to CBT is individualized, recognizing that each client's experiences and goals are unique. I work with clients to increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and develop healthier behavioral responses to life's challenges. Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, I emphasize lasting change by helping clients recognize patterns, practice new skills, and build confidence in their ability to navigate difficult situations. Whether you are working through stress, life transitions, trauma, court-related concerns, or personal growth, I use CBT as a practical, evidence-based framework to empower you to make meaningful and sustainable changes.
