I am firmly rooted in the belief that the therapeutic process is a symbiotic collaboration between therapist and client. Regardless of whether you're navigating a temporary challenge and seeking targeted, solution-driven guidance, or grappling with a persistent concern that requires long-term therapeutic involvement, there are moments when we all benefit from external assistance. I recognize the importance of individualizing therapeutic interventions. Everyone's journey is distinct, influenced by their unique life experiences, cultural backgrounds, and individual belief systems. It's essential to take a comprehensive view, taking into account not just the present symptoms but the whole person and their life narrative. By understanding each person’s individual story, I can offer more tailored guidance and interventions. This personalized approach not only addresses the immediate concerns but also empowers clients to better handle future challenges with increased confidence and self-awareness. I earned my doctorate degree from the esteemed California School of Professional Psychology. My professional journey has seen me serve in a range of environments. This journey includes my work at the UCLA Anxiety Disorder Clinic, where, as a psychological assistant under a seasoned psychologist, I honed my skills in managing anxiety disorders. My expertise also extends to substance abuse environments, both in acute inpatient psychiatric hospital, as well as outpatient clinics, where I've addressed the intricate dance between anxiety, depression, and addiction. My work in collegiate settings, such as President Barack Obama’s alma mater, has equipped me with insights into the stresses and anxieties faced by students navigating academic pressures and life's pivotal decisions. Furthermore, In the unique and challenging setting of maximum security prisons. Where as a forensic psychologist, I've supported inmates, including those serving life sentences, through the complex emotional landscapes of anxiety and depression linked to their circumstances. My therapeutic approach is anchored in both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic theory. Typically, I employ psychodynamic perspectives to facilitate deeper insights into the origins of a client's psychological concerns. This understanding then serves as a foundation upon which we build a CBT-driven treatment plan, ensuring you're well-equipped to achieve your therapeutic objectives.

Hi There. My name is Mimi. I am a licensed Psychotherapist. I am here to help you grow, identify and resolve emotional and psychological obstacles that are preventing you from achieving the quality of life you deserve and desire. My integrative approach to therapy combines a variety of techniques to accommodate different individual needs to assist you in making choices that will help you achieve a fuller and happier life in a non judgmental, compassionate, warm, and safe environment where you will be heard and accepted. You may feel lost, empty, anxious, alone, with no place to turn to, but as we work together, I will lead you to explore those wounds and emotions that are creating the pain you feel. Clinging to old patterns and emotions is familiar and safe, but it does not serve us well. However, as we walk together, your life will begin to have the purpose you are seeking and deserve as you let go of old emotions and experiences. Taking the first step to self understanding can be intimidating and it takes courage to embark on a journey for change where you will be in control of your life and to all issues overwhelming you with anxious feelings and overwhelming thoughts. You are not alone, you can do it, and I will support you all the way as we work together!

I was born and raised in California, the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, they came to the United States hoping for a better future and opportunities. I am a first-generation college graduate and understand the sacrifices many parents make to give their children a better future. I attended California State University Dominguez Hills and have a background in Child Development and Human Services. I recognize that it takes courage and vulnerability to embark on a journey of self-discovery through therapy. I have a strong background in Critical Race Theory, which offered me a lens to analyze critically how systems of oppression affect people in underserved communities. I work from a trauma-sensitive, client-centered approach. I have worked in community mental health for six years, helping individuals recognize their potential and greatness. My values and beliefs embody my Mexican culture and spirituality. They align with the core values of the social work profession of service, respect, justice, dignity, the worth of a person, self-determination, integrity, importance of human relationships, and competence (National Association of Social Workers [NASW], 2017). I believe individuals can rebuild their lives, change, and recover. Effective helping constitutes the ability to believe that people can change by showing empathy, showing them that you care, respecting their culture, and by showing people that what you do is consistent with what you say.

You don’t have to struggle alone! I look forward to the opportunity to work collaboratively with you in your journey in discovering how to make positive changes, decrease negative behaviors and thoughts, and help improve your mood and engagement with life! In our hectic world we often find ourselves afraid to take risks that could jeopardize the stable lives we have created for ourselves. We remain in jobs, relationships and old patterns that no longer work, while symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger and self-defeating patterns keep us from making real changes to our lives. If that sounds like you, you are stuck. We can feel lost and alone when we are unable to move forward, whether in work or a personal relationship. Therapy can help you break free of that and thrive. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a focus on teens, adults, and couples. I have worked with clients on concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and family reunification. I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I also minored in sociology.

Hello there, thanks for spending the time to get to know me as a Therapist. I would like first to welcome you to this interesting journey of getting to know yourself deeply and possibly understand the world around you. First, I explore you, the problem you are facing, your environment, and your past to understand better what is going on. So, be aware, I will take some time on that. I especially want you to feel heard and understood first, to be in the same page before we move on to the next step. I was told to be very approachable and easy to talk to, even when I point out inconsistencies for us to gain broader insight into your situation. Over the years of experience, I have learned that each of my clients brings a different theory that needs to be treated case by case. I use several different approaches and orientations, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Bowen Therapy, and Structural Therapy among many others. I have treated adolescents, women, men, couples, and families, and I have been treated at different severity levels. I have been successful in bringing out the best of you once you find your personal goals and place in life. Overall, I am open to your needs and preferences in treatment plan and interventions, as long as it brings you back to your functioning and high performance.

As a therapist specializing in women in their 20s and 30s, I've observed a pervasive challenge: the relentless pressure to achieve perfection, excel in every area, and meet the expectations of others. This often culminates in feelings of exhaustion, self-sabotage, and burnout—issues that deserve far more attention than they typically receive. Navigating significant life transitions—whether it’s college, graduate school, building relationships, or starting a family—can leave many feeling adrift and overwhelmed. If you’re grappling with self-doubt, please know you’re not alone in this struggle. I invite you to join me in a conversation where we can explore these feelings together and work towards finding clarity and balance. In addition to my work with women in early adulthood, I’ll also be opening space to work with teen clients starting this summer. A waitlist is now open for sessions beginning in July.

Love and work are essential to a meaningful life. Relationships with others define experience and work gives a sense of purpose. Disturbance in these affect well being and contribute to an overwhelmed response leading to collapse. As trauma is relational so is recovery and healing. Having the right therapeutic alliance is a key element and requires, attunement and constistency.  James has over 17 years of clinical experience treating diverse individuals in a variety of settings. As a Mind-Body-Awareness trained therapist, he works with adults having problems with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. In addition to having a graduate degree in Social Work from San Jose State University; he also attended years of practicum training from the following: Certification in Somatic Experiencing from SE Trauma Institute; Sierra Institute for Contemporary Gestalt Training; Professional Training in Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Experiential Psychotherapy Santa Cruz; iRest Integrative Restoration, an evidence informed meditation practice for trauma; Certification in Satyananda Yoga Nidra; and Completion of 500 hours of Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training.

🌿 You’ve done the journaling. You’ve had therapy. You know your emotional patterns. Now you’re ready for something deeper—not just coping, but becoming. I’m Kelisha, and I help women who are already on the healing path move into their next level of self-trust, emotional integration, and personal power. My clients are often cisgendered WOMEN who: Are emotionally aware and want to go deeper Are moving through transitions and desire clarity, softness, and alignment Have done inner work but now want to live it—fully and embodied Are ready to release survival mode and step into presence, joy, and truth In our sessions, we blend somatic work, narrative therapy, spiritual reflection, and psychodynamic insight. I support you in connecting to your body, softening your inner critic, and uncovering the aligned version of yourself that’s already waiting to be lived. This is not a space for emotional initiation. If you are just beginning to explore your emotions, or seeking basic coping strategies, I may not be the best fit. But if you’re already doing the work and feel ready for grounded, soul-deep transformation—I’d be honored to walk beside you. 🌹❤️

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take UnitedHealthcare Shared Services?

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare Shared Services you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare Shared Services you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
