I am a licensed psychotherapist in California, and I specialize in the examination of the human experience, with an emphasis in trauma and abuse, anxiety, depression disorders, and couple's therapy. I always strive to embody cultural humility, and I am proud to serve diverse clients of all backgrounds and walks of life. As a clinical therapist and cultural arts practitioner, I employ a unique artfulness to my style of therapy. I utilize traditional therapeutic modalities paired with mindfulness and meditation. I believe clients gain insight and answers to their challenges by exploring their inner-genius, and I am happy to serve as your trusted guide. Through clearly expressed goals and a commitment, one can be on the journey to self discovery, empowerment, mental wellness, and contentment. Under my therapeutic guidance, clients are empowered to create and embrace their own inner light. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes determination and a kind of "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired" type attitude, and I am proud of you for getting started! In the words of the late Bruce Lee, "What we are not changing, we are choosing". Let's work together and get your life on the path you truly envision for yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is essentially time for us to build rapport. It is a sacred time for me to listen, and for you to express to me what in this moment is bringing you the most stress or confusion. From there we will lean into what your desires are, and what goals do you foresee yourself accomplishing under my care. I see my clients as the experts of their own vision. As a psychotherapist, I am simply a guide to support you in articulating your simplest and wildest dreams. As a guide I will support you in designing the foundation, daily structure and habits needed to realize the life you envision for yourself. I will warmly hold clients accountable to the goals they have set for themselves, and gently remind clients that the road to recovery and health is at times uncomfortable, but well worth the reward of mental wellness and freedom.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a licensed provider with professional acumen and lived experience. As a single mother I pursued my graduate studies, while simultaneously putting twin daughters through UC Berkeley. I am also a proud survivor of familial trauma, and I understand firsthand the generational and cyclical ramifications of family based trauma. I personally understand how this world and our subsequent choices can impact our self-esteem, self-worth, and overall growth in life. As a psychotherapist I will never judge or shame you, because I am committed to disrupting stigma and creating high quality accessibility of healing for those who truly need it and want it. I invite you to entrust me with your healing journey, and I am so proud of you for taking this first step towards recovery and mental wellness!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a "solutions-oriented" style of talk therapy. CBT operates from the premise that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior. Stress impacts our lives in many ways, even to the point of distorting our perception of reality. Which is why we at times find ourselves in harmful and depleting situations time after time. CBT aims to identify disempowering thoughts and actions, followed by employing strategies to challenge and overcome negative thoughts and behaviors. CBT is appropriate for people of all ages, and backgrounds, including children, adolescents, and adults. Research and evidence has illustrated that CBT can successfully address various conditions, such as major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and many others.

Couples Counseling

I have ample experience treating couples dealing with a wide range of issues ranging from cultural differences, familial expectations, finances, fertility, DV, etc.

Racial trauma treatment

I have served countless clients actively dealing with racism and racial trauma in their workplace, academic setting, and even personal home life. I have the personal and professional experience needed to successfully hold and support clients dealing with the ravaging and gas-lighting impacts of racism and racial trauma.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I have a wealth of experience with cultural sensitivity therapy, which comes from a stance of cultural humility and openess to other ideas outside of the dominant cultural lens.
