*I only work with individuals, no couples, no minors (under 18)* Trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, I am available to help clients navigate trauma, anxiety, relational issues, communication skills, depression, and stress management . As a first generation Eritrean American born and raised in the Bay Area, I struggled with a sense of belonging throughout my adolescence, often straddling the line between multiple identities and insecurities surrounding the idea of not being “American enough" and not being “African enough.” Early on in college, I took a psychology class that helped me further understand the human condition and its applications in my own life. I learned transformative concepts in terms of moods, relationships, and behaviors, prompting me to further pursue the field of psychology. Since then, I have taken it upon myself to get advanced training in various therapeutic approaches, which I believe help clients get the most out of their therapy experience.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR) with a warm, curious, and deeply relational approach to psychotherapy. Growing up across different cultures shaped my understanding of how identity, family, relationships, and belonging influence our lives. Along with my graduate research in cultural humility, these experiences inform how I listen—with genuine curiosity, openness, and respect for your unique perspective, without assumptions or judgment. I work with individuals across the lifespan, helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, family conflict, identity, and major life transitions, including medical diagnoses, hereditary cancer risk, survivorship, and previvorship. I also bring over a decade of advocacy within the hereditary cancer community. My approach integrates attachment theory, multigenerational family systems, trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral strategies, and clinical art therapy. I look beyond symptoms to understand how past experiences, relationships, and cultural influences may shape your present challenges. I'm collaborative and attuned, but also actively engaged in our work. I ask thoughtful questions, offer honest observations, and gently challenge patterns when helpful. I believe therapy should provide both emotional safety and opportunities for meaningful growth. My background in fine arts offers additional ways to explore experiences that may be difficult to express verbally. Art is always optional, and no artistic experience is necessary. **Services and payment:** Individual psychotherapy is available through select insurance plans and private pay. Couples and family therapy are offered exclusively on a private-pay basis. Please inquire about fees and availability before scheduling these services.

We all have the opportunity in our life to start fresh. During the journey, we change, grow, heal, destroy, and can improve our lives. You will experience difficulties, and you are not alone. We are not alone in this world, but we are compelled to isolate ourselves from the fear of experiencing too much pain. I have many years of clinical training with life experiences, including successes and failures, but we are not provided a how to manual at birth. Hi! Welcome to my practice! I offer therapy as a calm, supportive space where you can slow down and feel genuinely heard. With over 15 years of experience, I’ve helped individuals move through anxiety, depression, hurt, and major life transitions. My style is warm, collaborative, and practical—focused on helping you feel grounded and capable of meaningful change. I use evidence‑based approaches like DBT, CBT, and Problem‑Solving Therapy to build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and support personal growth. Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing on you, understand patterns that no longer serve you, and practice tools that help you move forward with clarity and confidence. Therapy with me is welcoming and human. You don’t need to have the perfect words or a polished story—just a willingness to show up as you are. My hope is that each session leaves you feeling supported, understood, and more connected to your own strength.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with five years of experience providing individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. I am deeply committed to helping clients heal emotionally, build resilience, and reconnect with their sense of worth and purpose. My passion for this work is rooted in lived experience. Moving to Nigeria at the age of six, losing my father at twelve, and later experiencing the loss of my newborn taught me firsthand about grief, strength, and the importance of compassionate support. These experiences shaped both who I am and how I show up as a therapist—with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deep respect for each client’s journey. I believe healing happens when people feel safe, understood, and empowered. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients move from feeling overwhelmed or stuck toward clarity, emotional balance, and meaningful personal growth.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Arizona and Indiana. I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agencies working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings has provided me with hands-on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. I take a non-judgmental, warm approach to therapy and I believe in tailoring my therapy towards my client's individual needs. Together we will establish goals and design a path towards a healthier way of being. I draw from a multitude of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Clients who work with me have a desire to change. Whether facing everyday challenges that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life or struggling with family dynamics that have caused distress or trying to navigate through grief, my clients can learn to use their insight to find new ways of functioning that better serve what they want from this life. My clients can see a future for themselves that brings peace, happiness and healing. The first step towards seeking help is often the most difficult. Hello. I am a licensed social worker in California. I began practicing in the mental health/behavioral health field in 2011. I originally was licensed in Maryland in 2015 but then returned to California in 2016. Since starting in the field, I have worked with individuals ranging in age from 4 years old to 75 years old; most experience working with individuals between the ages of 10 and 35. I have experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, depression, anxiety, parenting problems, and relationship issues. I am an ally of the LGBTQI community and can provide a safe, telehealth space for them. Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot accommodate individuals seeking letters for emotional support animals or those mandated by the court or legal system for therapy. With that said, my goal in being a counselor, is to assist my clients in meeting their identified treatment needs. I am flexible and willing to do whatever I need to do to assist you and help you in any way that I can. If when viewing my profile, you feel as though I am a good fit, but my schedule does not meet your scheduling needs, please feel free to send me a message as I may be able to fit you in at a different time. I take a strength based approach to therapy, focusing on the strengths, values, and resilience you already have rather than only on problems. Together, we build on what is working to help you navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. This approach supports growth that feels both practical and personally aligned with who you are and your goals.

Hi, I’m Brian Mitchell. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, but more importantly, I’m a dedicated partner in your healing. I specialize in helping people navigate trauma and PTSD through a lens of safety and genuine support. Whether we use EMDR, CBT, Somatic, or mindfulness, my approach is never "one size fits all"—it’s tailored entirely to your unique story. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over three decades of experience in mental health and clinical experience. I draw from 63 years of my own life experience as a gay man, educational (MSW from the University of Connecticut) and practical knowledge. Thus I understand what it’s like to be marginalized, and feel different like you don’t belong. I use a compassionate, non- judgmental, understanding, strength based approach by acknowledging and welcoming your whole person, body, mind, and spirit. I can help one understand who they are? where they've been? and how they can move forward in their life.
