I am a licensed clinical social worker who have been practicing for over 12 years. My passion is working with adults and guiding them in overcoming trauma and healing wounded child parts. This passion is due to my own healing journey as a child who was touched inappropriately, exposed to domestic violence in a military household where my father abused drugs, physically abused my mother, and later experienced the death of my then 3-year-old son. Through my own healing journey, I learned how to "manage" my symptoms after receiving CBT talk therapy and grief counseling but had never healed from my trauma or knew about a wounded child part until receiving my own EMDR counseling. Since then, I have dedicated my life to supporting others who are on their own healing journeys. Before healing, I experienced symptoms consisting of low self-esteem, mood instability, not feeling safe, trust issues, and the need to control everything which negatively impacted my relationships with others. The journey was difficult but successful, thanks to EMDR. Thankfully, your journey doesn't have to be difficult. EMDR and Brainspotting are two highly effective modalities in treating trauma by helping to heal wounded parts through the brain's own healing process. If you're tired of feeling that you're always being judged, feeling stuck and unable to move forward because “something” is holding you back, experiencing trust or relationship issues, not feeling as if you're good enough, or if you're waking up sad, angry, irritable, or depressed and not understanding why, you may have a wounded part that's ready to heal. If so, I would be honored for the opportunity to help the wounded part within you to recognize that they're safe, they can trust, and that they're good enough.

It never ceases to amaze me just how often I have to try to convince others that they are worthy SIMPLY because they exist. This includes you! I want to know who communicated to you that you are not enough and why you value the opinion of said person(s); these types of harmful beliefs are learned, not innate. Let's unlearn them together. Most of my early clinical work has been with children and adolescents with focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, trauma and various behavioral and emotional issues. I have worked in high-intensity and high-crisis environments from school to hospital settings. I am passionate about working with and creating a safe space for folks who belong to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. I understand that belonging to a marginalized/oppressed group can result in barriers to achieving and maintaining optimal mental health. I am a cis/het woman doing my best to provide care that is equitable and gender-affirming. I'm always learning and growing as an ally; you will always be safe here. I am also always looking at things through a trauma-informed lens. I'm a busy working parent who understands how hard it can be to do it all. I am currently pursuing a certification in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to be able to better support soon-to-be and new parents; this particular journey is no joke! I am certified in treating perinatal mental health disorders (PMH-C) My website: https://kayla-rhodes.clientsecure.me/

I enjoy working collaboratively to develop goals that are realistic, meaningful, and lead to positive change. I view therapy as a journey—one that helps you find steadier footing and supports you as you move along your unique path. Although much of my background has been in public service settings working with severe mental illness, acute crises, and trauma, I welcome concerns of any size. No problem is too small or too overwhelming to bring into therapy. I invite you to give the therapy process a chance to work for you! I have been in the behavioral health field for more than 30 years and have been licensed since 2012. I have a practical, down-to-Earth style with an open-minded, solution focused approach. There is likely no issue too complicated or difficult for me to work with. I like to establish a clear treatment path with attainable goals, making it easier for you. I encourage you to give the therapy process a chance to work for you. My goal is to offer steady support and thoughtful guidance as you discover a healing path that truly fits your life. While life can be challenging, you don’t have to navigate it alone—therapy can provide a safe space to find clarity, resilience, and hope.

Hi, I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California for 20 years and I hold a doctorate degree in the Philosophy of Counseling. I am in my second marriage for 30 years now, after my 24-year first marriage failed. We have seven children between the two of us, 31 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. I have had good success counseling couples who have given up on their relationship, especially those who have experienced infidelity. I don't counsel children until they are 18. I enjoy helping people understand how they became the way they are and therefore find ways to leave dysfunction behind.

After earning my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, I spent a number of years traveling the world and then went on to earn two Master’s degrees, the second in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working as a therapist for close to seven years, but have worked as a counselor with children, adolescents, and families for over 15 years. I built my own academic counseling business after my first graduate school, in which I fostered relationships with families and the community. This experience working closely with hundreds of local families gave me great insight into the power of supportive, goal oriented, client centered, positive relationships as catalysts for change in individuals and relational systems. I approach my clients with the belief that they are capable and valuable, and that with my support in identifying their strengths and resources, both internal and external, they can gain skills and achieve goals that can instill a sense of hope which enables them to move forward successfully. I have spent a great deal of time traveling, living, and working in diverse parts of the world, and I believe my own experiences coupled with my genuine positive regard for people has cultivated a broad perspective of understanding that contributes to my success as a therapist.

I have worked with a variety of clients dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, trauma, issues of identity, questioning how to relate to loved ones, and working through issues of faith and connection to God. I believe that therapy can heal, but I also know that telling a stranger about your deepest pain can be a strange feeling. Perhaps you've been feeling sad, depressed or worried, and hopeless that anything in your life can change. Or maybe you aren't sure what you would even want help with. You know you feel bad, but if someone were to ask you "How can I help?", you aren't sure what you would say. These problems can feel permanent and unsolvable. After all, something feels broken and unfixable, so how could you not feel that it takes all the energy you have just to get up in the morning and go about your day? Depression or anxiety can also feel isolating, as if nobody else could possibly understand. You may have even received advice from people who you feel mean well but can't understand what you're going through. Depression and anxiety are not permanent or unfixable, and therapy can help. Imagine feeling peace of mind, and excited about life and its possibilities. It starts by learning about you and going at your pace. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 16 years experience working with adults and teens, I've seen therapy work, and I feel lucky that I get to be part of that journey for others.

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and you don't have to figure it out alone. My goal is to make the process feel more supportive, clear, and approachable from the very beginning. I help teens and adults feel more confident, manage anxiety, and navigate relationships more effectively. I also support parents in building stronger, less conflict-filled relationships with their teens. Therapy here is not about fixing you or placing blame. It is about creating a space where your inner light, resilience, clarity and strength can emerge and be shared. My approach is relational and trauma-informed, integrating mindfulness, CBT, psychodynamic and narrative principles to support insight, healing and meaningful change. A bit about me...I became licensed in the state of California in 2011. Prior to that, I received a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of California at Berkeley. I have worked in schools, non-profit agencies, and in private practice, serving diverse populations to include children, adolescents, adult individuals, families, and couples. Do you wonder if your life could feel better than it currently does? I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, including postpartum anxiety and depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and other life challenges. In this therapeutic process, we work together to help bring you closer to what truly matters to you and help create change and healing in your life. I use evidence-based techniques, which includes EMDR along with a variety of other treatment modalities. I am EMDR Certified. Therapy can help you create a sense of safety and nurturing within, whether you’ve lost that feeling along the way or never had it to begin with. I strongly believe in the brain’s tendency towards resilience and its innate ability to heal itself with support. I strive to provide a safe, supportive, open-minded, and respectful environment, and I believe that a collaborative relationship is critical to therapeutic success. My own experiences shaped my style as a therapist because I learned how valuable the connection formed through the therapeutic relationship can be. I am direct, yet compassionate and my clients know that I can be counted on to respond genuinely and allow them to feel understood. Together we will explore emotions and identify patterns of thinking and behaving that drive you using a strengths-based therapy style that focuses on lifestyle habits, self-care, spiritual connection, social support, mental and emotional health. Are you experiencing relationship problems, such as ongoing conflict, trust issues or feeling distant? If you are, there is help and hope. Through a process of improving your communication, learning how to have productive conflict resolution and improving the friendship and connection in your partnership; you can have a close, loving relationship. For couples, I will guide you through the challenges you face during various life transitions; a betrayal in the relationship, the challenges of having a blended family, going through a divorce, and co-parenting, as well as difficulties in getting on the same page.

All things are interconnected. To feel better, you have to act better. To feel better, you have to think better. To think better, you have to feel better. To act better, you have to think better. To think, feel, and act better, you have to care for your physical health. To care for your physical health, you have to think, feel, and act better. Each has a corresponding effect on the other. However, the aspect of ourselves that we have the most direct control of is what we do, our acting. While we can influence other people, we cannot control other people. A great source of conflict and unhappiness results from our efforts to control others. If you want better relationships, the only thing we can control is what we do, how we choose to relate. We are responsible for what we do. Others are responsible for what they do. Accepting this fundamental reality and thinking, feeling, and acting in accordance with it is how we increase our experience of power, freedom, belonging, meaning and, very importantly, fun. My professional experience includes over 30 years of post-Master’s clinical work, including leadership experience in foster care, chemical abuse and addiction, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and crisis intervention, de-escalation, and hospitalization. I am experienced in working with ages three through the elderly. I have worked extensively with youth and families, diverse populations and life issues, providing services in various settings, including family homes, schools, juvenile detention facilities, jails, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric facilities.

You might feel stuck in patterns like overthinking, anxiety, or relationship stress that are hard to turn off. Even when things look fine on the outside, it can feel exhausting trying to manage everything internally. I work with adults who want to understand these patterns and respond differently, not just cope. Our work focuses on making sense of what is happening beneath the surface while also finding practical ways to feel more clear, grounded, and in control in daily life. I integrate trauma informed care and parts work to help you build self-trust, set boundaries, and move through challenges with more clarity and confidence.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I have worked as a therapist for the past 12 years. As a first generation Vietnamese American with immigrant parents, my life experiences of growing up in two very different cultures have taught me ways to navigate through cross-cultural conflicts and have the ability to respond to individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural systems with compassion and understanding. As a therapist, I empower individuals to draw upon their strengths, heal holistically, and self-love. I will encourage and provide a safe space for you to explore, heal, and have the courage to move forward on a journey toward self-discovery, growth, confident, and love. It will help you become more resilience, improve self-worth, and a healthy deep connection with others.
