New to Grow
My name is Dr. Chad Nesmith. I have been a licensed therapist for over 30 years. I enjoy working with various types of issues in my practice. I became a therapist to help others because I received quality help as a teenager from a therapist. I lost my vision at an early age. I learned how to cope with the many emotions and issues experienced in my life. I am a 3-time Blind National Golf Champion. I would appreciate the opportunity to help you with your issues and struggles.
The first session is to get to know you as the client and for you to know me as your therapist. We will discuss your issues and goals and a plan that we can implement together.
I feel that I am an excellent listener, an excellent problem solver, and I have 30 years of experience to help foster change.
I prefer to work with clients who are motivated to change. Clients who are consistent in their therapy sessions, completion of their homework assignments, and providing accurate feedback. Clients who take an active role in the completion of their specific goals. I feel that clients who are ready for change are able to apply daily issues more accurately. Clients should enjoy the therapeutic process in completing their goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT for over 30 years. I feel it is the best evidence-based approach, that is CBT works on measurable and obtainable goals. Lastly, CBT requires weekly homework for clients to foster their own growth.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I like the use of DBT to help clients understand a sense of control. Using the Circle of Control, clients are taught how to identify specific choices that can be made. DBT works well with CBT to enhance the client experience.
