In our first session together, here's what you can expect

For our first session, we will go over introductions and I will gather information about your needs and interests in services. We will also discuss scheduling and session expectations.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I pride myself on being respectful, honest, creative and leading with integrity and radical acceptance. My approach is holistic, client-centered, strengths-based, goal oriented, and collaborative. I strive to provide you with consistent, high quality, and effective services. I am a trauma informed clinician, using treatment models like CBT, behavioral therapy, PC-CARE, Mindfulness and theories such as systems, psychodynamic, solution focused, strengths based, and theory to guide this practice. Through this work you will learn and practice ways to be compassionate and resilient mentally, emotionally and in relation to others. We’ll talk about how to solve problems, set goals, and think in a way that makes you healthier and stronger.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Parents/Caregivers (including foster care/adoption families) struggling to parent children due to tantrums, defiance, trauma, anxiety, depression, or ADHD. Individuals seventeen years and up, experiencing challenges due to stress (work, school, relationships), anxiety, trauma, grief, anger, and depression. During their work with me, clients have reported an alleviation of uncomfortable feelings and symptoms caused by anxiety, stress, trauma, childhood experiences, grief/sadness, and anger while improving their mental health and building connection with others. In addition to talk therapy, I also incorporate goal setting and skill building, helping clients develop a plan to care for themselves outside of our sessions. Through this work you will learn and practice ways to be compassionate and resilient mentally, emotionally and in relation to others. We’ll talk about how to solve problems, set goals, and think in a way that makes you healthier and stronger.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Allows me to be aware of the complex impact trauma has on a client. Used to support clients with establishing a sense of safety, gaining back control and empowerment in their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Allows me to support the client with identify and modify dysfunctional thought patterns. Used to support clients with exploring patterns of thinking and beliefs that lead to self-destructive/undesired behaviors; then modify or change existing patterns of thinking to cope with stressors in a more helpful manner.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Allows client to explore their defense mechanism. Used to achieve change through insight and understanding of early, unresolved issues.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)

PC-CARE is a brief program that I offer to caregivers of children ages 1 to 10 years with difficult behaviors who want to learn strategies to manage those behaviors. The goal is to decrease trauma symptoms and/or behavior problems, by strengthening the caregiver-child relationship, and give you and your child some tools that you can use for years to come.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is used to apply to sensory experience, thoughts, and emotions by using sustained attention and helping clients notice their experience without reacting. Mindfulness helps clients increase their self-awareness, self-control, and attention. It can also reduce their emotional suffering and increase compassion for themselves and others. Practicing mindfulness allows clients to see reality more accurately and without judgement.
