With nearly a decade of clinical experience, I have dedicated my career to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, offering specialized services such as anger management, substance use counseling, and crisis intervention. My approach is grounded in practicality and strength-based methodologies, emphasizing techniques from Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to empower clients in their journey toward positive change. Through a collaborative and empathetic stance, I strive to create a supportive environment that fosters self-awareness and resilience.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial clinical visit, I prioritize establishing a rapport and getting to know the client's unique background, experiences, and goals. We collaboratively review intake and assessment information, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the client's needs and concerns. Together, we outline a personalized plan, mapping out the therapeutic journey towards the desired changes, and fostering a sense of empowerment and shared commitment to the therapeutic process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a clinical provider lie in my authentic and relatable approach, creating a genuine connection with clients. I bring a resourceful mindset to therapy, adapting interventions to individual needs and drawing from a rich tapestry of real-life experiences, including my passion for sports, music, cinema, and awareness of local and current events. Infusing humor into sessions, I foster a comfortable atmosphere, promoting a therapeutic environment where clients feel both understood and supported on their unique journey toward positive change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am particularly well-suited to serve clients who have experienced incarceration, homelessness, or are first responders, including police, fire, and medical professionals. My extensive clinical background spans from addressing mild adjustment issues to severe cases involving personality disorders. The ideal client for my approach is someone who, despite contemplating change, requires dedicated support to take meaningful steps toward their goals and enhance their quality of life, knowing they have a compassionate ally in their corner.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In person-centered therapy, I prioritize creating a supportive and empathetic environment where individuals feel understood and accepted without judgment. By actively listening and reflecting clients' feelings and experiences, I assist them in gaining insight into their thoughts and emotions. Through this collaborative process, individuals often discover their own solutions and develop the motivation and confidence needed to make positive changes in their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, I work with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that may contribute to emotional distress. Together, we explore the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, aiming to develop healthier cognitive patterns and coping strategies. Through structured interventions and homework assignments, clients learn practical skills to manage and overcome challenges, fostering lasting positive changes in their mental well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

Utilizing Motivational Interviewing, I engage clients in open-ended conversations that explore their intrinsic motivations for change. By fostering a non-judgmental and empathetic atmosphere, I seek to evoke the client's own reasons and desires for making positive shifts in their behavior. Through reflective listening and collaborative exploration, individuals often find increased self-awareness and motivation, propelling them towards meaningful and sustainable change.
