Hi, I’m Shyrea (shy-ruh) Minton, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), treating adults in California. If you are seeking therapy now, you are likely experiencing challenges that are affecting your mental, physical, and/or emotional health and well-being. Whether you're dealing with overwhelm, relationship issues, or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help and I want to acknowledge the significance of the step you are taking to reach out for support. I truly believe folks can respond to challenges and issues they encounter, and also know that sometimes we need a little help when the challenge/issue has become too much to carry alone. I work with clients to process what is occurring for them, gain insight, and identify patterns that are impacting growth. We will work together to address the challenges that brought you to therapy so that you can begin to heal and grow.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will spend time getting better acquainted, and I will ask you to share your reasons for seeking therapy at this time. I will also ask questions to better understand how the issue is affecting you and your life overall. This will help us create a plan to address the issue over the course of our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a passion for supporting individuals through challenging times and creating a safe and supportive space for folks to explore and find their authentic voice. Together, we will build a therapeutic relationship to help you accomplish your goals and grow through the challenge.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT in my work with clients for several years. This approach helps us to understand connections between thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors. This treatment modality will allow us to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, leading to a reduction in anxiety and stress.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I infuse my treatment approach with a person-centered approach to help clients experience safety and care during therapy. I have been using this approach successfully for several years in my work with clients to promote a space of healing and growth.
