I’m a husband and dad to three boys (ages 16, 13 and 8), and family is a huge part of my life. We live on a 20-acre homestead where we raise chickens, goats, pigs, and cows, and we spend a lot of time in the garden. Life on the farm keeps me grounded and reminds me daily of the value of patience, hard work, and slowing down to enjoy what really matters. Faith and community are also central for me. I’m actively involved in my church, and I see my work as an extension of that calling to walk alongside others. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial streak. Alongside my therapy work, I am starting a tech start-up, I’ve run an online store, and I even dabble in Bitcoin mining. I enjoy the challenge of building things from the ground up and thinking outside the box. I also read a lot, and my libertarian leanings have been shaped by writers like Murray Rothbard. The conservative/libertarian focus on freedom, personal responsibility and low time preference connects deeply with how I approach life and therapy: we’re at our best when we are free to live with responsibility in society, own our choices, and pursue truth apart from coercion. When it comes to therapy itself, I integrate my faith with practical, proven methods. I use Christian Counseling, CBT, Reality Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and the Gottman Method to help people grow emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. My goal is to give you a space where your values are respected, your faith is honored, and you feel equipped to face life’s challenges with hope and clarity. If you’re looking for a therapist who understands the importance of faith, family, freedom, and practical tools for change, I’d love to walk with you on your journey.

I’m Janet Worley, LMFT and founder of Worley Wellness Counseling. I work with couples and individuals navigating relationship stress, communication struggles, emotional disconnection, and life transitions. Many of the people I work with care deeply about their relationships but feel stuck in painful patterns that leave them feeling hurt, misunderstood, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to be vulnerable, and empowered enough to create meaningful change. Rather than offering judgment or one-size-fits-all advice, I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and challenged toward growth. A large part of my work focuses on helping people understand the deeper patterns underneath conflict and distress. Whether you find yourself caught in recurring arguments, struggling to communicate, feeling emotionally disconnected, or carrying wounds that continue to impact your relationships, therapy can help bring clarity and create new ways of relating. I use an integrative approach that blends attachment-focused work, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method interventions, DBT-informed skills, and practical problem-solving strategies. This allows us to explore not only what is happening, but why it is happening and how to begin changing it. My goal is to help couples and individuals move beyond conflict, disconnection, and unhealthy patterns toward greater understanding, emotional safety, stronger communication, and more fulfilling relationships—with others and with themselves. I believe healing and change are possible, and you do not have to figure it all out alone.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Virginia rather than a city like Richmond?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Virginia. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Virginia from Norfolk to Roanoke! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Virginia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
