Mental illness is as real as any physical illness. We talk normally about cancer and diabetes, although the same should apply to mental illness. Emotional and mental health are just as important as the physical health of a human being. The emotional trauma that a brain endures in various of the human life cycle can be damaging and in the long run, just as detrimental as a psychical illness.
People donate their organs, but they cannot donate their brains. Some people live with human-made hearts, but there is no such thing as human-made brains. I believe that our brain is the most important organ in our human body, so why don’t we start taking good care of it?
Therapy is not only for people with mental illness. Therapy is for everyone. We all have faced or currently face some hardships in life. Talking to a therapist can help you deeply in improving your mental health, decrease your stress and live with more joy and intention! Make your appointment today!

About Darleena Cozzo , is a licensed professional counselor serving Virginia and Tennessee who has over 28 years of experience in the social services field. Darleena's style is warm and professional and, at the same time, passionate and committed to you and your relationships. Darleena focuses on personal and spiritual growth to over-come the fears, regrets, and excuses that keep us stuck, depressed, anxious and unable to ACT. Many of us have made choices based on fear instead of purpose and hope. As a result , we live lives that we never intended for ourselves. Our relationships, our families, our careers, our lifestyles are very unsatisfying, at best, and damaging and crippling at worst. This marginal existence is not what you intended; nor was it intended for you . You were meant for MORE; more gratitude, more love, more happiness, more peace. Come see me and lets beginning the Passage of Healing.
For most of my adult life, I have had the privilege of helping individuals and families navigate challenges, make meaningful changes, and move forward in their lives. Along the way, life has happened to me, too. I have experienced loss, grief, life transitions, and family conflict, and I understand that sometimes even the strongest among us need support finding our way through difficult seasons.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring both professional experience and a genuine understanding of how complex life can be. I work with adults of all ages who are ready for something to change but may not be quite sure where to begin. My approach is down-to-earth, curious, compassionate, and focused on making our time together meaningful.
Being a therapist is more than a profession to me; it is work that feels deeply purposeful. I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported as we work toward what matters most to you. And because finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, if we discover that I am not the best fit for your needs, I will gladly help connect you with another professional who may be.
I will like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a licensed mental health therapist. I want to tell you a little about myself and my fieldwork experiences. I worked in this field for several years, along with various training, to assist clients in different areas. In the last several years, I worked in a mental health hospital with adolescents, substance abuse, and crisis intervention in various settings. People with trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia were some of the people I helped at work. I worked with individuals on career choices to increase their career paths to maximize success. I support individuals in their desire to become independent, and I do this by helping them identify their true potential.
I provide a client centered approach that is compassionate with a judgement free zone that empowers you to make the changes in your life that you desire. I am simply a guide and supportive entity that helps you create your new life.
I have years of experience providing services to individuals struggling with mental illness, addictions and transitioning from the prison system. I believe diversity is the heart of American culture and love providing services to individuals from various cultural and social economic backgrounds.
If you’re looking for someone who will sit back while you unravel your life's chaos alone, I’m not your person. But if you want someone who gently calls you out, celebrates your wins (even the small ones like doing laundry), and hands you actual tools (not just tissues), welcome. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused techniques, which is fancy for I help you identify the unhelpful thoughts doing donuts in your brain, and together we kick them out and get you moving forward.
I proudly support the LGBTQIA2+ community, and my practice is affirming, inclusive, and kink/poly-friendly. No judgment here, ever! Whether you're dealing with anxiety that won't shut up, depression that's overstayed its welcome, or you’re just trying to get it together-ish, we can work on making real, sustainable change.
You bring the honesty. I’ll bring the dry humor, the empathy, and the occasional metaphor that doesn’t totally land but somehow still helps. Remember YOU>it.
Welcome!
I came to this work a little differently than some. After spending 16 years in my first career, I found myself sitting across from a therapist for the first time. That experience changed my life. It gave me not only a new perspective on myself but also a deep desire to help others in the same way. So, I made a big leap: I went back to school to become a therapist myself.
Since then, it’s been over two decades of meaningful, often humbling work. I spent 21 years in community-based mental health and substance abuse treatment, and I was fortunate to serve as a contracted therapy provider for the Department of Defense—work that gave me a profound respect for the strength and resilience of those who serve. I’ve also worked in private group practice and provided therapy in intensive outpatient programs in Canada, gaining experience with a wide range of individuals and challenges along the way.
In November 2021, I opened my own private practice. It’s been an incredible privilege to support individuals and couples in this more personal setting, and I truly value the relationships I build with each client. If you’re considering therapy, I want you to know you're not alone—and change really is possible.

Hi, I’m Shimyne Homidas, LCSW, and I’m glad you’re here. Reaching out for support is a powerful first step, and you don’t have to do this alone. I am the heart behind In Your Space, a place for real conversations, real emotions, and real growth.
Hi, I’m Makayla Martin, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP) with over five years of experience dedicated to supporting underserved and vulnerable communities. I genuinely enjoy working with individuals facing mental health challenges, trauma, and life’s many transitions, across all ages and backgrounds.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from a variety of proven therapies—including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy—to help you find effective ways to heal past hurts, build resilience, and discover your inner strength. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges and move toward growth and healing.
