Though I was born in the USA, my early years were spent in Colombia, South America. As a child I was deeply affected by the contrast between the natural tropical beauty and all the poverty and depravity around me. I could not reconcile the violence and injustice I witnessed. As I grew up and began traveling around the world, I realized that so many of these people had indeed figured out ways to cope with war, violence, abuse, and injustice. I admired their resiliency. How did they do it? RESILIENCY in RELATIONSHIPS! That was the key!! I talked with people, for example, in Bangladesh whose stilted homes were washed away every year from monsoons….and rebuilt. I’ve cried with people (both men & women/ children & adults) who have been trafficked out of the back of a semi-truck in Colorado, Texas and Florida for years, yet who are now amazing survivors, helping other survivors. I’ve laughed alongside of couples from all over the world who thought their marriage could never be restored after infidelity yet were whole again. I’ve sung songs with Middle Eastern and African Refugees who have suffered war bound torture and hatred beyond belief yet are now in safe countries with new jobs and restored hope for the future. In Sri Lanka, I held hands with people who suffered losing their entire family in the Tsunami…..all people demonstrating how to restore hope through RESILIENCY in RELATIONSHIPS, with others and with themselves. With much research, studying, and face to face experience, I realized RESILIENCY in RELATIONSHIPS was LEARNED! I always thought it was something you either had or didn’t have from childhood. I was stunned to learn that failure and strife actually cultivates RESILIENCY! But there are skills to learn to make it happen, skills such as self-awareness, ability to pay attention (mindfulness), learning to grieve and let go while embracing change, learning how to have healthy relationships with others and with ourselves, and accessing positive emotions while focusing on the beauty in life. I am grateful that through all these years of experiencing the dark side of things, I am most enamored with people in crisis and how they have been restored. They didn’t do this alone. Asking for help is difficult and yet I am happy to announce that it IS possible to laugh again. I hope you will allow me to walk that journey to RESILEINCY with you.

Hello Friend! Everyone, at one point or another may feel weighed down. We may even describe the feeling as 'lost in a web of frustration' with a host of unbearable stressors. Some may describe it as anxiety, fatigue, or sadness. Many would not know what is wrong or feel as if no one is willing to listen. Did you know anxious energy is normal? Some may call it feeling stressed, others as productive energy. In truth, anxiousness is innate in all of us to escape danger. What is not healthy is when stressors cross the threshold of what feels comfortable and interrupt our everyday habits, responsibilities, and we feel depleted. We all have our unique threshold for stress. But how do we 'fix things' when all we want is to be alone? Many will say: 'When life throws us lemons, make lemonade'. But how? It’s as simple as finding a helper - I'm a helper. I’ll help you navigate the web of confusion to find YOUR definition of empowerment. My journey began as a young child whose home life was a host of struggles/abuse which later served as an insight into the struggle others experience. Such experiences can hamper anyone's ability to move forward. In my case, I was fortunate to meet a well-regarded psychotherapist who aided me in learning life-long cognitive tools. My work as a psychotherapist began in a clinical setting. I garnered a vast amount of knowledge specializing in various modalities of treatment, including the conventional mode known as the bio-psychopharmacological in dealing with comorbidity. Proper psychotherapists should emphasize there is no such thing as "the magic pill" and most treatments do not require referrals for medications to heal. I hold a high standard for clients' rights as a mental health advocate and a high standard for myself which in turn helps my clients find their innate tools. I help those dealing with depression, grief, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues, PTSD (trauma), adjustment disorder, chronic health issues and behavioral issues including ADHD. I serve all slices of society: seniors, couples, survivors of abuse, LGBTQIA2S+, gender dysphoria; and those with comorbid conditions such as drug addiction. Together, we will identify what's not working for you. We will identify solutions you innately use and simple goals that do NOT require you to change your entire life. Change should NOT be an ordeal, but an inspiration. You will become partial to the positive mindset with an empowered sense of well-being.

For the last seven years I have worked with clients including but not limited to adults, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, addiction, marital problems, anger problems, and vast other areas of mental health in clinical and hospital settings. As a Clinician I hope to help others better understand the complications that can occur in life on a daily basis and how to maintain a balance so those problems do not define them as a person. I hope to help people understand what counseling truly is and is able to do for them in the correct setting. I hope they will gain a better understanding of the true purpose of counseling to help them grow as a person. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minor in Faith Development. I have a Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling.

Hello! I am a Doctor of Marriage & Family Therapy and currently a Licensed Professional Counselor. I currently have 8 years of counseling/clinical experience. As a LPC, my style is warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I use a mix of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and person-centered therapies. I aim to make clients feel comfortable and at ease while being attentive and open. I specialize in both outpatient and inpatient services treating military/veteran populations, PTSD/trauma, substance abuse disorders and addiction, co-occurring disorders, anxiety/depression/stress, ADHD, sports psychology and performance anxiety with student/professional athletes, and family/couples/relational and intimate relationships. Additionally, I have specialized experience in conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients, formulating behavioral health treatment plans, providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients, treating psychological conditions associated with medical complications, performing biopsychosocial/psychological evaluations of clients, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy for adolescents, teenagers, adults, couples, and family populations. There are countless theories, modalities, and orientations in the therapy world. This can be very confusing for those who simply are unsure what fits them. My biggest takeaway from this journey of mine is that it is not so much about a theory but rather active listening, creating context, and simply being there with the individual(s) looking for different perspectives to help guide a client to move forward is really what therapy is all about. I look forward to guiding you on your journey of faith, hope and wellness!

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the University of Mobile with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I approach our time together with integrating Christian, biblically, faith-based principles along with clinical treatment approaches and techniques tailored for you. I'm a narrative therapist at heart, which means we all have a story of our lives, and in the sharing of our story, we discover possible meaning, insights, healing, and growth. It is my goal to create an inviting, warm, safe place for you to share that story, and we can discover together how the Lord wants to bring healing and hope. It is my hope that people will take away from sessions feeling supported, cared for, listened to, not alone, comforted, encouraged, and with a spark of faith that it is ok to have the courage to hope again.

Getting to the root cause of this can be scary, yet extremely beneficial. Whether its trauma from childhood or an experience as an adult, or perhaps from something you may not remember, our life experiences influence our current wellness and how we interact with others. At times, it can seem as if we’re all alone and that no one understands us. But when you come to therapy, you’ll have a safe space to heal and grow.
