Sometimes the hardest part isn't realizing something needs to change—it's taking that first step. Reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you've been carrying so much on your own. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, explore what's been weighing on you, and discover practical tools that help you move forward with greater confidence and peace. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Trinity University and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Saint Mary’s University, both in San Antonio. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have experience supporting children, teens, adults, and couples through life's challenges, with specialized training in grief and trauma. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and have completed advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents (TGCTA). I am also currently pursuing certification in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders to further support individuals throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood.

Career counseling focused on mental health in the workplace is my specialization. I help college students, job seekers, and working professionals who are feeling burned out, anxious, or overwhelmed reconnect with their strengths and bring their best selves to work or college. Many of my clients juggle high expectations, relationship challenges, and ongoing stress. They feel stuck, frustrated, or held back by negative self-talk or their environment. Together, we work on recognizing these patterns, challenging self-imposed limitations, and building healthier, more confident ways of thinking with clear steps to overcome challenges. I offer complimentary career exploration assessments, resume reviews, strategies for networking, practice interviews, and salary negotiation. I also offer complimentary business plan development for entrepreneurs and guidance on financial aid (FAFSA) for first-time college students.

I began my counseling journey as an adolescent, and eventually became a school counselor over a decade ago working with elementary to high school aged kids. I quickly learned that school counselors are not able to equip their students with necessary tools and as a result I began to pursue my LPC. As a fully licensed therapist in Texas I value the trust my clients instill in me and together we work to address any and all client concerns to allow them to live their best life.

I have 9 years of experience supporting individuals and families as they navigate some of life’s most challenging moments. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Tarleton State University, and throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with adults, children, and adolescents across a variety of settings, including shelters, outreach centers, schools, and hospitals. These experiences have shaped my belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered to create a life that feels meaningful to them. I strive to embrace the full spectrum of life—the challenges, transitions, growth, joy, and everything in between—and provide a safe, compassionate space where you can show up as your authentic self. My approach is collaborative and centered around meeting you where you are. I believe therapy is not about having all the answers, but about having the right support as you explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, and work toward the life you want. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths, navigate obstacles, shift perspectives, and develop tools that allow you to move forward with greater confidence and hope.

Hello, my name is Teresa, practicing mental health for over 18 years working with the military population. Working as a middle school teacher in a lower socioeconomic area. This led to my desire to go back to school for my master’s degree in counseling psychology. Receiving my LPC licensure, led me to pursue my chemical dependency counselor license (LCDC). I began working as a substance abuse counselor with the US Army in substance abuse counseling. While working with the military I worked at a local hospital developing a program for civilians in chemical dependency. The need to work with individuals, and families including Service Members, led me to work as a contractor for private corporations. During this time, I received a certification in behavioral therapy to work with the autism spectrum population. Raised as a military dependent, then wife and mother, I experienced many aspects of different personalities. I was led to understand what it means to try to hide who you are to eventually become someone you may not recognize. The goal is to have you see, life is wonderful, we go through the storm to appreciate the sunshine. The experience developed led me to work with addiction, anxiety, PTSD, and many other mental health issues. We are a beautiful bouquet with different views on life. Using an eclectic therapeutic array of mental health care has allotted me to develop individual care. This concept of care is the same for couples and group therapy. Some techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychosocial therapeutic techniques.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Hi and welcome! If you like someone who is straightforward with a bit of dark humor, we’ll probably be a good fit and you’re in the right place. I love discussing things that range from the mundane to deep spiritual and philosophical concepts, whether it’s helping people through depressive slumps, anxieties, or all the changes associated with big life transitions. My practice is located in Portland, Texas. Much of my work focuses on trauma. This ranges from car accidents, to childhood trauma, to abusive relationships, combat veterans and PTSD. I respect my client's opinions on their treatment and work closely with them in treatment planning. I love it when clients share resources with me that have helped them outside of sessions, whether that be podcasts, books, etc. I work to incorporate these things into treatment. I'm very skilled at meeting a client where he or she is at, and I have a talent for coaching clients through the difficult parts of treatment to continue making progress and not become "stuck."

My goal is to meet you where you are, walk with you through your journey, and support you in reaching a place where you’re not just surviving, but truly thriving. I offer therapy grounded in compassion, care, and consistency. I believe in holding space for both grace and accountability — creating a safe environment where you can be honest with yourself, challenge unhelpful patterns, and grow. Since the days of pigtails, I’ve been pulled by this strong force to access wisdom and connect with something higher than this tangible world. This gnawing passion has led me to study the power of the mind and how to create what our souls truly desire. I’ve been blessed to study ancient technologies such as yoga and breathwork and am so passionate about sharing simple tools to effect real change. I was trained in counseling at University of North Texas, receiving my Masters in Education. My favorite courses were transpersonal counseling and stress reduction through movement. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and have currently been practicing for 7 years. I’m also a certified yoga teacher and trained at the Shri Kali ashram in India. The types of yoga I teach focus on activating the parasympathetic nervous system to release the whole self from the ever vigilant fight or flight mode a lot of us find ourselves in on a constant basis to survive in this modern culture. In the therapy session, my main intent is to be fully present with you, free of judgment; to Become a spacious environment in which you can explore your own truth and start to shed the layers that no longer serve.

The human experience is not something that always works based on logic. Our brains are wonderful tools that can occasionally get stuck in a survival mode that leaves us feeling helpless and terrified. We can become stuck logical loops, anxious cycles, helpless before the fear of the unknown, or in a dark depression that stops us from continuing our previous goals and fun hobbies. Our past can be a reason for this. Sometimes it might be recent events at just the wrong time. It can even be a combination of small things that seemed to always shift never going away. My philosophy of treatment is to teach my clients how mind and body work so that they can make their choice in how they choose to live and interact with others. I am trained in EMDR, hypnosis, and IFS and apply all in working with PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression and for pain management from physical illness. A person's mind is like a garden, cultivated or left to it's own devices it will always grow. When carefully tended it is a thing of beauty, but if left alone it is a mess of weeds. In understanding the thoughts and beliefs you have about the world and how you can shape them, you can learn to thrive. With a new perspective you can change everything.
