I continued my education at Capella University and graduated with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I was trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the State of Texas and continue to utilize CBT in my practice today. I was promoted to a supervisory position for the Assertive Community Treatment Team and led a team of 13 case managers, nurses, and LCDCs, who worked with clients who were high utilizers of the local mental health hospitals and were in crisis often. I was the lead counselor for the team. and was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy to assist our clients with the trauma they have endured and taught them to challenge the negative thoughts they had about themselves regarding the trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming to help those who have lived through a traumatic event that is causing distress in their lives, or clients who endure distress they find difficult to handle. I have worked with individuals, couples and families seeking counseling for over 10 years, both online and in person, and expanded my counseling career working with children, adolescents, and teenagers now for 8 years.
I utilize a person-centered, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based approach when working with clients on becoming their better selves. My time with you is dedicated to processing thoughts, exploring emotions, identifying patterns, and learning coping skills to manage the problems in your life.

From supporting traumatized child soldiers in Liberia to helping newlyweds in the United States rebuild connection, each person I’ve worked with has shaped me into the clinician I am today.
I work with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and family conflict. There is nothing more meaningful to me than watching someone release long held wounds, rewrite old narratives, and reclaim the life they were meant to live.
My therapeutic style blends the warmth and unconditional positive regard of Client Centered Therapy with the practical, results oriented tools of EMDR (trauma-focused) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe therapy should create real change, not just conversation. You can expect a collaborative, active process — one where you’re supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow. I often provide homework between session assignments so you can continue making progress outside the therapy room. No one wants to stay stuck longer than they have to.
I’m proud of you for taking this step toward a better life. Change can feel intimidating, but it can also be exciting, empowering, and deeply rewarding.
I look forward to walking this journey with you.
Dealing with life struggles can be overwhelming and at times it can be exhausting. Life stressors and impactful situations can greatly affect our mental well-being and as a result, affect our physical health in the process. Having the necessary and proper tools to work through those issues are essential to better one's life. By providing you with a compassionate and nonjudgmental space, I can help you feel safe and provide the support you need as you explore your inner self and work toward healing and growth. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy models to help individuals change the view of their struggles to obtain favorable changes. Changing your thought process can help you realize and understand you have power in your hands to make great changes and in turn obtain more desirable results.

Hello, I'm M.L.
I believe as humans we all want something similar, to feel normal. We want, desire, and try our best to feel like everyone else. Yet, simultaneously we desire to be unique, special, and individualistic. I believe it is necessary to think of humans as puzzle pieces in order to fulfill both. While the pieces share the same geographical space as well as have the same manufacturer, they are unique and serve varying purposes. Do you belong at the top but are content being a side piece? Are you on the bottom when you were meant to be at the center of it all? Let's collaborate and find out where you belong. You may discover the only thing wrong was where you (as a puzzle piece) tried to fit in.
In therapy, I collaborate with the expert on the client (you), identify obstacles, and come up with strategies for working toward your goals. I do this by first remaining curious about you as a client as well as your perspective of the issue. I serve to remind clients that everything in life does not have to feel good in order to end with good results.
You can't fix something that you don’t see. In a world of selfies no one is willing to look at any angle that doesn’t compliment their cuteness. What if you could see your truest self? The natural, emotional, relational, and spiritual you through a 3-way full body mirror. Imagine what would be possible. Good therapy, is a mirror into your soul.
Life can be challenging. I can help you work through these challenges. I can guide you to work out past experiences or current situations to make your life easier to manage and be rewarding.
I provide several types of therapy to help clients of all ages. My background consists of getting my BS in education in 1994. I received by ME in Guidance in counseling in 1999. I gained my LPC in 2017. I was a teacher for 6 years and as a Guidance Counselor in elementary for 18 years. I have been a licensed counselor for 3 years. I am more experienced in working with children but enjoy working with adults of all ages.
I would like to help clients reach positive healthy ways to handle life stressors and negative events that keep clients from being in a peaceful and balanced stage of life. Reaching out for help is the best thing you can do for YOU!

I am a seasoned counselor familiar with adolescents, issues of personal development, empowerment, issues about personal power, overcoming fear, and identifying values. I value honesty, courage, self-actualization and altruism. I have worked almost exclusively with males. I see the world from a male perspective because that's the point of view I have experienced life through. I have spent years in the gym. I am a musician, and I play out somewhere every week.
There are a few high-stakes, difficult life situations I want to address here: If you are afraid of your child setting a fire, trying to get a gun, or stealing from you in plain sight, reach out. If your child is being bullied, I might be able to help him to acquire the skills necessary to hold his own in life. Finally, if you or a family member is being stalked or threatened by someone, I may be able to professionally assess the danger.
Please note: Because of my role at the University of Houston (UH), university policy, as of Sept. 2025, prevents me from providing private counseling services to current UH students or UH alumni. This policy applies across all University of Houston campuses and programs.
