I provide individual therapy and family therapy that is person centered and meets the client where they are. The process of counseling is a team effort and I strive to assist (you) my clients with identifying strengths, recognizing supports, developing self-awareness, and accepting accountability I use a variety of approaches (eclectic) to meet the needs of my clients. I specifically use interpersonal psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Counseling. All treatments are supported by the following values: • People are doing the best they can with the skills that they have. • People can change. • People do get better. • People may not have created their problems, but they do have to live with them. • The therapeutic relationship is a safe place to explore issues, learn innovative ways of thinking and acting, and practice skills. To maximize the benefits of counseling, I will often ask clients to complete homework assignments including practicing new skills with follow up reports. I am also a mother, wife, life long student, parent of a disabled child, and support to many.

As an evidence-based relaxation and meditaiton trainer, I am uniquely qualified to help you learn to cope with grief, anxiety, past trauma, women's issues, and vicarious trauma experienced by veterans and first responders. My approach is eclectic, using interventions from a broad base of solidly-grounded, accepted theoretical orientations, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidence-based, brief modality for resolving PTSD symptoms. I see clcients for anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and women's issues. Through sessions together, I will collaborate with you to assist you in recognizing your individual strengths and strive to empower you with the self-awareness and self-confidence to pursue your dreams. i also practice Internal Family Systems, a means of healing PTSD without having to revisit the event. this is evidence based and rooted in both Attachment Theory and Family Systems Therapy. I am a professional counselor, consultant, human development and nature healing specialist. I am licensed with the state of North Carolina Board for Licensed Professional Counselors (#6516) and a National Certified Counselor (#229164). I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1996 and both Masters and Specialists degrees of Education in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida in August of 2000. My continuing ed & training focus has mainly been on trauma and dissociation throughout the last 26 years. The majority of my life experiences have centered around learning as much as I can about trauma and dissociation; how we can increase our awareness in order to increase our "window of realness." We often hear about improving our "window of tolerance" in order to tolerate the ever more increasing demands of our world. By increasing our "Window of realness" we move toward our most authentic selves. I often use an eclectic approach bringing together a variety of types of therapy to help my clients express what they need to express from the various different developmental levels that traumatic material gets stuck within. For example in one session you may find we start out by talking and end by drawing, playing, or dancing. Whatever brings you in: trauma, grief, struggling with dissociation, anxiety or depression, it's my hope that by providing a soft place to land, you will feel comfortable enough in your own skin to begin to be curious to explore what's on your mind. You'll feel acknowledged, respected and empowered as an individual, as a human being, with rights and needs, through the compassionate and empathic way that I will relate with you. From, the very first session, you can begin to claim back your power.

I am a compassionate and experienced therapist who believes in the transformative power of therapy. With extensive training in Person-Centered therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care (TIC), I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of my clients. Understanding that no two individuals are alike, I use an eclectic approach to therapy, integrating various modalities to empower clients to overcome challenges and achieve meaningful change. Whether addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I am committed to helping clients build on their strengths and develop the skills needed for personal growth. I believe that therapy is not just about addressing problems—it's about fostering growth and transformation. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings openly, knowing they are supported and understood. The therapeutic alliance is at the heart of my work, recognizing that a strong, trusting relationship between therapist and client is crucial for healing and change. With me, clients are guided on a journey of self-discovery, equipped with practical tools and insights to navigate life’s challenges. Through collaboration and empowerment, I help clients move towards a future of resilience, fulfillment, and well-being.

Feeling stressed, anxious, confused, bored, lonely, sad or down? Struggling with an addiction or past/current traumas? Over the years I have helped many people work through these issues to empower them to improve and enjoy a better quality of life. I know firsthand how it may feel vulnerable and unsettling to reach out and ask for help with therapy. However, I firmly believe we all deserve the opportunity to improve ourselves. I am a LCSW and LCAS, graduated with a MSW in 2005 from UNC-Charlotte. I am a skilled and accomplished Behavior Health Therapist with integrity, empathy and compassion specializing in the treatment of co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders to empower clients and their families to improve their quality of life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in the state of North Carolina, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Provider (CCTP).I hold a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University (2013) and earned my Doctor of Education in Community Care and Counseling with a focus in Traumatology in 2022. With over 11 years of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working across a broad spectrum of mental health settings. For the past eight years, I have supported active-duty service members and their families in an outpatient setting, providing trauma-informed care rooted in evidence-based practices. Prior to this, I worked in an inpatient facility with individuals experiencing persistent and severe mental illness. Currently, I also facilitate group therapy for adolescents in an acute inpatient setting, offering crisis stabilization and psychoeducation. I conceptualize treatment through the lens of Relational Frame Theory and approach therapy from a systemic perspective, always considering the broader relational and environmental factors impacting my clients. I strongly value mindfulness as both a personal and professional practice, integrating it regularly into treatment to support emotional regulation and present-moment awareness. Outside of my clinical work, I’ve been happily married for 19 years and am the proud parent of two teenage children. I share my home with three beloved dogs. In my free time, I enjoy baking, crocheting, reading, and spending time at the beach—places and activities that help me stay grounded and connected.
