Feeling stressed, anxious, confused, bored, lonely, sad or down? Struggling with an addiction or past/current traumas? Over the years I have helped many people work through these issues to empower them to improve and enjoy a better quality of life. I know firsthand how it may feel vulnerable and unsettling to reach out and ask for help with therapy. However, I firmly believe we all deserve the opportunity to improve ourselves.

My goal and hope are to help people find their own voice with assertiveness skills and become comfortable in their own skin to live a better and more fulfilling life.

I am a LCSW and LCAS, graduated with a MSW in 2005 from UNC-Charlotte. I am a skilled and accomplished Behavior Health Therapist with integrity, empathy and compassion specializing in the treatment of co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders to empower clients and their families to improve their quality of life.

First session

In the first session, I introduce myself then listen to clients as they share areas where they are struggling. Then I typically offer practical coping skills.

Strengths

Over the years clients remark I listen well, show understanding and compassion, am knowledgeable, practical and teach assertiveness by example. I strive to walk the talk so to speak. Identifying root causes of issues and identifying triggers to help reduce symptoms so clients can grow and improve their lives

Ideal clients

Since 2005 I have worked with clients of all ethnic and demographic background. I am experienced with multiple treatment modalities to help individuals and couples with various issues, including effective communication, practical coping skills, major traumas and losses, grief, depression, anxiety, anger management/healthy relationships, alcohol/drugs and other addictions, lifestyle adjustments, and parenting. Regarding working with clients struggling with traumas, this has included death; combat veterans; domestic abuse/violence; childhood issues of abuse, neglect; natural disasters; major accidents and violence; and health issues.

She tells you what you need to hear not what you want to hear. It's like talking to your favorite aunt.

I read her bio and some of her reviews and so I knew that she would be great for me...and she was! It's such a relief to have someone to talk to that just is relatable, direct, authentic and very solution focused. I'm looking forward to our next session after doing the homework she gave me to do.

I needed someone who would provide solutions and be direct and Patricia provided just that on our first session. I look forward to future sessions with her.
