New to Grow
Traumatic experiences are, unfortunately, far more common than many people realize—and their impact can linger in ways that affect how we think, feel, and relate to others. For 16 years I have specialized in helping individuals process and heal from various types of trauma, including interpersonal violence and sexual assault, childhood abuse, and religious trauma. I also provide support for parents caring for children with complex medical needs, recognizing the unique form of secondary trauma, chronic stress, and emotional exhaustion that caregiving can bring. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed therapy. I incorporate practical tools for nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and building resilience, while always honoring your pace and your story. You can expect a space where you are believed, respected, and supported. Healing is possible. Whether you are working through past trauma, navigating the challenges of caregiving, or trying to rebuild trust and stability, there is hope. I would be honored to walk alongside you- not as someone who has all the answers, but as someone who can help you make sense of what you’re feeling and move toward relief.
In our first session I'll ask some questions to get to know you and hear what brings you to counseling. I recognize that traumatic experiences are difficult to talk about, so I won't push you to share more that what you're comfortable with. We'll talk about what kind of approach works best for you - whether you just want a space to be heard or prefer to be challenged. Mostly it's a conversation to help me understand where you want to go and how we want to get there.
My approach is informed by lived experience, but I will never assume your story is the same as mine. I am a good listener and am not afraid to sit with heavy details and hard emotions.
I enjoy working with clients who are willing to try new things, like new coping skills or new ways of thinking. Clients who are motivated for change are fun to work with, but I feel comfortable working with ambivalence too. I work best with those in early, middle, and late adulthood as well as people of all genders and races.
Other specialties
I identify as
Trauma-Focused CBT
When it's appropriate, I can utilize the TFCBT model in it's entirety to help teens and adults process traumatic experiences. However, I routinely incorporate elements of TFCBT into my work with others to help build coping skills, enhance emotional regulation, and reframe cognitive distortions .
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT skills to help clients learn how to manage intense emotions and moments of crisis. I can incorporate worksheets and homework exercises if desired.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I find the language of IFS to be very helpful for understanding the different parts of ourselves and why we act they way we do. We can use this "parts work" to treat trauma, depression, anxiety, and addiction.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a great tool to explore the reasons why we want to change (or don't) and build internal motivation for shifting our behavior.
