LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
I hold a BSW (2020) from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I also hold a Master’s degree (2021) from the Joint MSW program between UNCG & NC A&T. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have 5 years of work experience in counseling/therapy. In terms of my services, I do not adhere to the one-size-fits-all perspective of counseling theories. I tend to tailor my focus on the following theories; Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma focused therapies. Therapy is a way for you to express your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a place where you feel trust and acceptance. We will work together to achieve your best quality of life through finding what works best for you and your need(s). My role in your therapy is to be a source of information, empowerment, and a helping hand. I am committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment.
In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and what brings you to counseling. We will talk about whats been going on in your life, what you would like to work on, and what you hope to get out of therapy. I will also ask some background questions so I can better understand your history and current situation. This session is really a chance for us to get comfortable with each other, for you to ask me questions, and to see if working together feels like a good fit. By the end, we will have a starting point and a sense of direction for moving forward.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is creating a safe, welcoming space where clients feel truly heard and supported. I am deeply committed to walking alongside you, offering not only guidance and information, but also encouragement and empowerment. My role is to be a steady helping hand as your work through challenges, build coping skills, and move toward the changes you want for yourself.
My ideal clients are older teens and adults, ages 17 and up, who feel overwhelmed by life's stressors and want support in making meaningful changes. I especially enjoy working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, or major life transitions. These are people who may feel stuck in difficult thoughts and emotions, but who are ready to build healthier coping skills and regain a sense of control. Together, we focus on what matters most to you, so you can move forward with confidence and become the best version of themselves.
I use CBT to help with understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and actions all connect. We will take a look at any unhelpful patterns and find new ways of thinking and responding that make things feel more manageable. I want to help you reduce stress, improve mood, and help you reach your goals with the use of CBT.
We will use DBT to help with building skills to handle any big emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in healthier ways. DBT is more hands-on and focuses on things like mindfulness, communication, and finding a balance between acceptance and change.
Through the use of EMDR, we can help the brain process painful or stuck memories so they wont feel as overwhelming in the present. EMDR uses things like eye movements or tapping while we focus on the memory, and over time it helps lessen the intensity and make it easier to move forward.
I also use ACT to help you accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of getting stuck in them, while focusing on what really matters to you. It helps you build flexibility, stay present, and take steps toward living in line with your values.
We will use MI as a collaborative style that helps you explore your own reasons for change. Its not about me telling you what to do, but about working together to build on your motivation and confidence to move toward your goals.
