Hi, I'm Kali (pronounced Kay-lee). I’m glad you’re here. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood from the start. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over five years of experience. I earned my BSW from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my MSW through the joint UNCG and North Carolina A&T program. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I tailor treatment to each individual. Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My role is to walk alongside you with guidance, education, and support as we work toward improving your quality of life. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my 2 year old and finding balance through simple, mindful moments; values I also bring into the therapeutic space.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, my main focus is getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been going on in your life, what you’d like to work on, and what you hope to gain from counseling. I’ll also ask some background questions to better understand your experiences and current situation. This first session is a chance for us to get comfortable, for you to ask questions, and to see if working together feels like a good fit. By the end, we’ll have a starting point and a clear sense of direction for moving forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is creating a space where you feel comfortable being honest and fully yourself. I show up authentically in our work together, which helps create a natural, human connection and ease some of the anxiety that can come with starting therapy. I also believe in the thoughtful use of self-disclosure when appropriate, as a way to offer reassurance, normalize your experiences, and remind you that you are not alone in what you’re navigating. My role is to walk alongside you with steady support, offering insight, practical tools, and encouragement as you work through challenges, build coping skills, and move toward meaningful change
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with older teens (17+) and adults who are feeling overwhelmed by life’s stressors and are looking for support in creating meaningful change. I’m especially drawn to working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, mood-related concerns, or major life transitions. Many of the clients I work with feel stuck in difficult thoughts or emotions and want help developing healthier coping skills and a greater sense of stability. Our work together centers on what matters most to you, helping you move forward with more clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of control in your life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help with understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and actions all connect. We will take a look at any unhelpful patterns and find new ways of thinking and responding that make things feel more manageable. I want to help you reduce stress, improve mood, and help you reach your goals with the use of CBT.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
We will use DBT to help with building skills to handle any big emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in healthier ways. DBT is more hands-on and focuses on things like mindfulness, communication, and finding a balance between acceptance and change.
EMDR
Through the use of EMDR, we can help the brain process painful or stuck memories so they wont feel as overwhelming in the present. EMDR uses things like eye movements or tapping while we focus on the memory, and over time it helps lessen the intensity and make it easier to move forward.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I also use ACT to help you accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of getting stuck in them, while focusing on what really matters to you. It helps you build flexibility, stay present, and take steps toward living in line with your values.
Motivational Interviewing
We will use MI as a collaborative style that helps you explore your own reasons for change. Its not about me telling you what to do, but about working together to build on your motivation and confidence to move toward your goals.
