Hello there, I'm Heather. Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, or difficulty adjusting to life transitions? Are you noticing that things are overwhelming and more difficult to cope with because of the many stressors in life? Do you feel that you worry too much, are not good enough, or feel like you're stuck? Do you feel like you are all alone, that you have no one who really listens, understands you, or can relate to what you are going through? Well look no further because I specialize in alleviating anxiety, managing and overcoming depression, and adjusting to life transitions (such as parenting, relationship challenges, experiencing an empty nest, health issues, job loss, divorce, death of a loved one, or retirement.) It's a common experience to face these life challenges, but when those issues start to take over your life, it's time to get the support you need by working through this with a counselor so you can live a more fulfilling life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina, licensed to see clients in North Carolina working virtually, and I'm also licensed in California. I received my Masters from San Diego State University and have been practicing clinical social work for 21 years. I enjoy working with individual adults who are struggling navigating the stressors in life, and we would work together to get you unstuck as soon as possible so you can live a better life, on your own terms. You are brave and have made an important step in the change process just by being here.

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted constantly? Isolated and alone because you don’t want to burden your friends or family with your problems? Or maybe you don’t know quite how to name why you feel this way or how to talk about it. Well, there is good news - therapy is the place to explore these challenging thoughts and feelings. I’ve worked in mental health since 2016, helping people of all ages, backgrounds, and challenges. I approach mental health challenges with a holistic mindset to help identify what we can change, inside of our control, and increase resilience. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma are a few examples of mental health struggles that impact how we live and experience the world. However, the opposite is also true! Because our lifestyles can influence our ability to tolerate stress and feel good about ourselves. My job as a therapist is to help you identify what is working, and what isn't working, and what we can do about it. I believe in us working as a team and supporting you in achieving your goals, so you can reconnect with your inner strength, resilience, and confidence to manage life's challenging ebbs and flows. Why choose me? Well, to help me feel less like a stranger, here is more detail about my background: My M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is from Lenoir Rhyne University's Graduate Center of Asheville, NC in Dec. 2020. I hold a B.S. in Psychology from Longwood University in Farmville, VA. I'm a Qualified Mental Health Professional with 5.5 years of direct care experience with teens in residential treatment. My graduate internship was community and school-based outpatient therapy with Access Family Services. August 2021 to March 2024, I was an outpatient therapist, in-person and virtual, with a company in the Chapel Hill area.

I'm a doctoral-level CBT practitioner who specializes in men's issues, though I have experience treating a large breadth of mental health concerns with diverse clientele. My style is laid back and I prioritize strong therapeutic relationships with all of my clients to serve as springboards for the changes they are hoping to make. A primary goal is to help minimize power dynamics to foster an environment in which clients feel comfortable taking risks and sharing freely. Additionally, I actively emphasize and leverage clients' innate strengths as vehicles through which to reach treatment goals.

Hello, I’m Dulcie. Have you been struggling and wondering why it’s so hard to feel happy, have a positive outlook, and accomplish the goals you have for your life? Are feelings of disappointment, confusion, and failure contributing to problems with your emotional health and relationships? Do you feel like nothing will ever change so what’s the point in trying? Well, let me tell you why, you are worth it and it’s never too late to invest in YOU! I have many years of experience counseling great people just like you, working together to navigate life’s obstacles, find common sense solutions, and help guide and support you during life transitions. If you allow me to go on this journey of change with you, I will focus on a person-centered approach where your needs, goals, and objectives will be the roadmap for our work together. I will use evidence-based treatment techniques, largely based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you identify and change patterns in thinking and behavior that may be contributing to your current dissatisfaction. But perhaps even more important than the therapeutic approach employed, I will endeavor to build a relationship with you by being present, genuine, honest, and compassionate. I have learned that the outcomes my clients achieve are often a reflection of the strength of our therapeutic relationship. So, are you ready to partner with me as you endeavor to overcome the situations, relationship challenges, or symptoms that seem to be barriers between you and your best life? If so, I am committed to walking with you on your journey.

Hey, I'm Erin, and I love being a mental health counselor. I started my career as a preschool teacher, determined to save the world one child at a time. My father, the original Cooley, was a social worker who inspired my love of working with and helping people. Wanting to make a greater impact on the success of children and families, I pursued a Masters in Counseling. This began my journey into the world of mental health and it has truly been a journey of purpose for me. I tell my clients that I am a "geek" for counseling and I am always absorbing new information about the mental health field. I have been working as a trauma-informed therapist for many years. I am trained/certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and, more recently, EMDR. I take into account the whole person, understanding that many factors make up health. I am creative in utilizing many modalities to help you achieve your goals with your mental health and overall well-being. I deeply believe in the natural desire for each person to reach wholeness and believe you are the expert of yourself. I desire to guide, support and challenge you to reach your fullest, actualized self.

Life is full of seasons, some more difficult than others. Many people struggle a long time before seeking mental health care. But mental health is health! Just like in other health specialties, preventative mental health care can be so effective in avoiding crisis and more serious illness. You do not have to suffer to deserve support! No matter the level of stress you are going through, you are worth taking care of. Therapy is a process in which you will clarify how you feel, what you need, and learn how to get more satisfaction from your life. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents that are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by their life circumstances. You are not alone. Together we will work to identify what you need to grow to your full potential!

Hi, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in the state of North Carolina. I received a master's degree in counseling, along with a graduate certificate in substance abuse counseling, from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2010. While in graduate school, I decided to specialize in Motivational Interviewing (MI) when I discovered how well the “spirit of MI” (partnership, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment) fit with my perception of how we change and grow. Since then, I have had the opportunity to participate in several advanced MI training workshops facilitated by some of the originators of this powerful approach to facilitating change. By incorporating the components mentioned above into our counseling relationship, along with a wide variety of evidence-based approaches as needed, a collaboration is created where we work as a team to identify and build on your strengths, restructure any self-limiting beliefs, increase confidence, and progress towards the accomplishment of your goals. I started my private practice soon after graduation and have had the privilege of being part of the change process in countless lives over the past 14 years.

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker- currently licensed in NC and seeking licensure in Georgia. I am also a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. I received my Masters from the University of Georgia and have been practicing since 2020. I wear many hats outside of my role as a therapist, one being a new mother. This transition into motherhood has given me a new lens to see life through. I am also wife, daughter, outdoors enjoyer, cook, and exercise enthusiast. We all wear many hats or view the world through different lenses which help us relate to one another in this wild world we live in. As a therapist, I believe I bring a compassionate and calm energy to the space I share with clients. I show up as my authentic self which means I can be a little irreverent, I will gently challenge you, and I will probably laugh at jokes that, as a therapist, I shouldn't. I am not a "blank slate" kind of therapist, but I also won't tell you what choices you should make as I believe the client is the expert in their own life. I walk along side my clients and hold space where you need it- whether that is you needing an empathetic ear or assistance with making life changing decisions. I recognize that it is a privilege to do what I do. I look forward walking along side you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S) with over 15 years of experience in mental health. My career spans various roles, including program therapist for inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, manager of a geriatric behavioral health unit in a rural community, and as department director in a critical care mental health hospital. Throughout my years in the field, I noticed that many individuals struggling with mental health challenges lacked essential skills—whether in communication, emotional regulation, or behavioral management. This realization led me to establish my private practice, where I focus on equipping individuals with evidence-based skills to enhance their mental well-being.

I believe there is power in learning to balance our lives emotionally and spiritually. I have 25-plus years of experience as a counselor, and have been able to help clients find emotional and general life balance. I draw from primary treatment modalities of Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic, and Existential Theories. At the conclusion of counseling, clients should be able to actively deal with their internal states in a way that allows them to feel more at peace with increased self-esteem, and well-being.

My counseling approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Dialectical Behavioral therapy. There is no greater joy (for me) than helping individuals to overcome mental and emotional barriers/ traumas that impede overall health & well-being. I believe that we are the “Author of our story” and our voyage is to own the "Pen" that writes “Our” story. It is important that my clients are provided a safe space, free of judgment, and are given an environment to express themselves. Do you have people-pleasing tendencies? Do you feel emotionally exhausted? Fear of abandonment? Do you feel responsible for taking care of others? Do you struggle with boundary setting and self-love? Each of us brings our own history, traumas, and fears into our adult relationships. Our past experiences continue to drive our view of self, others, and the world. We carry forward unhelpful ways of communicating, behaving, and relating to others. This can result in self-sabotaging behaviors which contribute to our relationship dissatisfaction. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming feelings, relationship issues, anxiety or depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary, but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the habits holding you back. Let's work together! My approach focuses on healing from past learning/programming. Anxiety, depression, personal traumas, and negative relationship cycles can be healed by understanding our experiences and adjusting how we view ourselves, others, and the world. Areas of focus would be recognizing unhealthy behaviors within your relationships with your partner, family, and coworkers. I will assist you with improving your ability to practice self-love! I also assist clients with increasing assertiveness and improving healthy boundaries. Together, we can identify what's not working and bring you back into balance. I apply cognitive behavioral techniques to enhance your relationship with yourself and others.

Whoever thought you could feel so alone in a world so big? While we all face similar problems, the impact can be so different. Hello! My name is Veronica Mial, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. Over the past ten years, I have worked with individuals and families within vulnerable populations including but not limited to those who have faced issues such as homelessness, addiction, and other trauma. Whether you are dealing with transition and change in life, struggling with implementing boundaries, or other common issues such as self-doubt, depression, or anxiety, my goal is to work with you to identify the sources of these feelings and determine a course of action to best address these issues. I am here to provide a safe space and a fresh perspective for individuals who are open to a person-centered approach. I believe in being intentional with our therapeutic approaches to ensure that it is specific and unique to your individual needs. My goal is to not make any decisions for you but to work with you and provide the necessary tools and support to help you navigate through this thing called life.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by North Carolina rather than a city like Charlotte?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across North Carolina from Raleigh to Greensboro! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in North Carolina.

Will my therapist take EAP:Evernorth?

Yes! If you use EAP:Evernorth you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have EAP:Evernorth you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
