I am a therapist who believes in empathy, active listening, applying objective, sound knowledge, & encouraging clients to build on the personal insight they gain from therapy. I have a diverse background, life experiences, & multiple professions including time in the military which has instilled a deep understanding of resilience & the complexities of navigating life. Couples & Individuals 17 years and older.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues and collaborate on therapeutic goals. I welcome clients to assess our fit and encourage an open dialogue regarding expectations and commitment to therapy. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which although designed for trauma, can be used with a wide variety of presented issues. I think we can all agree, life can be both "Big-T" and "little-t" traumatic. ART is one approach that is easily included in talk therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am direct, pragmatic, and understand how complicated life can get sometimes. I am in my 50's and have an educational foundation, clinical knowledge, and life experience that collectively translate into a solid therapeutic approach.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal clients are those who are at a point in their lives that requires more introspection and insight, curiosity and genuine interest in themselves and their important relationships, open to learning new skills and knowledge while applying liberal amounts of charity as well as high integrity.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Theory considers events in our childhood as a significant influence on our adult lives, shaping our personality, and often choices and patterns in adulthood. Through agency (self drive and self choice) we are able to intentionally change those those choices and patterns. A Psychodynamic approach is often an appropriate place to launch therapy.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

The basis is acceptance, or actually the AWARENESS of ones own thoughts and feelings. Learning new ways of behaving is a way to change those thoughts and feelings. "We do better when we know better."

Relational

Specifically, Relational Life Therapy (RLT), is a form of couples counseling that aims to help partners resolve conflicts, develop personal accountability, improve communication, and foster intimacy within their relationship.

Humanistic

A Humanistic approach accesses a client's positive characteristics and potential by tapping into their wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment.
