My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each individual from ages 6 through 50.. I see neurodivergent clients, LGBTQIA+ challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, depression with a holistic approach to healing with psychoeducation on brain-body connection and tools to support the nervous system. As a neurodivergent individual, I am naturally attuned to the challenges and strengths of neurodivergent clients … which leads to greater patience, validation and empathy for my clients.
I draw from science-based therapies to support healing on both emotional and nervous system levels. This may include trauma-focused work, nervous system regulation skills, mindfulness, somatic (body-based) practices, cognitive and behavioral strategies, and practical tools to support everyday life.
Together, we will work at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you. Therapy may focus on processing experiences, building emotional regulation skills, increasing mind-body awareness, strengthening boundaries, and creating healthier patterns that extend beyond the therapy room.
Hi, I’m Tia and I approach therapy with the mindset that every client has internal skills that give them the ability to reach personal goals. I am a Licensed Professional counselor (LPC,) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I utilize an integrative client-centered approach, where the client takes the lead as the expert on their life and patterns of behaviors, and I help guide the client to uncover causes of core belief systems that fuel areas of concern. My role in this process is to support clients with encouragement while also maintaining accountability for positive change.
I am an easy going kind of guy with a sense of humor. I aim to connect with people, not just see them for an hour each week. I have been a therapist and addictions specialist for 12 years and I have no idea what I would do if I was not doing this. Feel free to ask me anything else you would like to know.
I have several years of experience treating individuals, families, and adolescents using a holistic, empathic, and trauma-informed approach. Watching friends and family struggle with mental health and substance abuse issues fueled my passion for helping those who struggle with these difficulties from a place of understanding, patience, and empathy. I received a BA in psychology first, which led to obtaining a substance abuse certificate. I gained experience working with families and individuals and, after some time, I was ready to further my education and obtained a Master of Social Work. This helped me expand my clinical skills and learn more targeted therapy modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, psychoanalytical care, and art therapy. I found these approaches are a great synthesis of neuroscience, trauma, and creativity.
