New to Grow
Hi, I am Jordan! I’m a fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I received my Master of Social work from East Carolina University & my Bachelor’s in Family and Community Services from there as well. I have been practicing therapy for over seven years. I have experience working in the hospital setting, schools, clinics, and private practice. I live in Eastern North Carolina with my family and our dog. I’d like to think I'm a fairly down to earth, easy going, and a generally positive person. I love helping clients improve their mental wellbeing and consider it a privilege to walk alongside them.
Starting therapy can be overwhelming but I will assist with this process. In our first session, we will get to know each other and I will ask questions about your background and what brings you to therapy today. From there we will develop a treatment plan and set goals and simply work towards them in future sessions.
I like to meet my clients where they are and assist them in ways they may find helpful whether that be by being a good listener, validating their feelings, and holding space for them or challenging them just a little to take the next step they need to make a positive change in their life.
I love working with highly motivated individuals of various backgrounds who are ready for change. I specialize helping in teens (and their parents), young adults, college students, parents/expecting parents, working professionals, and adults of all ages. I help folks embrace life transitions, overcome anxiety and depression, process trauma, create a secure attachment style, develop tools and systems to work with their ADHD and neurodivergent brains. I also work with folks to improve communication and better their relationships. We will work together to set goals and develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. I believe my clients are the expert in their life. I am simply a tool to help my clients identify and solve problems, find their strength, and develop the necessary tools needed for success.
Other specialties
I identify as
Attachment-based
We will explore your childhood including your upbringing and earliest experiences and determine how your experiences impact how you relate to others today. We can work to rebuild trust and develop a secure attachment style using this method.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, short-term talk therapy that helps you recognize how your thoughts can dictate your feelings and behaviors. By identifying and changing negative thought patterns, we can break self-destructive cycles and learn healthier ways to cope with everyday challenges.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic therapy helps you understand how your past experiences and hidden, unconscious thoughts shape your current behavior, emotions, and relationships. This allows you to be aware and focus on positive changes.
Eclectic
Using this approach I will draw from several therapeutic approaches and theories that I am skilled in. Therapy is often not a one size fits all approach and having a few different tools to work with helps meet my clients where they are.
Mind-body approach
We can incorporate a more holistic health approach to treat symptoms should you like such as mindfulness, deep breathing, meditation, and healthy coping skills that regulate one’s body and nervous system.
