Healing begins when you finally feel safe enough to stop pretending you're okay. That is the space Dr. Shawn creates. Clients often describe therapy with Dr. Shawn as feeling like sitting across from someone who genuinely sees them before asking them to change. She believes that every behavior has a story, every protective response once served a purpose, and every person deserves to be understood without shame. Whether someone is recovering from trauma, learning healthier boundaries, navigating life transitions, or simply longing to feel like themselves again, Dr. Shawn meets them with compassion, honesty, and hope. She helps clients move beyond surviving toward living with greater peace, confidence, and emotional freedom. Her goal is simple: To create a space where you no longer have to carry your story alone and where healing becomes something you experience, not just something you talk about.

I'm a firm believer that the best approach to engaging clients and tackling complex issues is a combination of learned skills and community resources. I'm able to engage clients in a warm and compassionate way that strengthens and empowers them to take on life's challenges.
I didn't always know I wanted to be a therapist. Growing up in a household where mental health issues were present allowed me to see firsthand it's effect on individuals. After undergraduate school, I landed my first job in a psychiatric hospital. That's when things clicked for me, and I knew that I wanted to help people become their best selves. I had a natural curiosity to understand the world, how people think, and what drives human behavior. I also believe in the power of connectedness. All these things came together and pushed me to pursue my graduate degree in counseling. My experiences early on taught me that no one is perfect, we all struggle, and we all deserve grace. I am here to tell you that your story doesn't have to end where it is now. I aim to show that we are all resilient and have the ability to overcome challenges.

My desire is to provide my clients with a space in which they feel safe, welcome, and understood. Rather than therapy providing one hour a week in which my clients experience the relief they're seeking, I aim to equip my clients with skills and understanding they can apply throughout the week and even beyond our time working together.

In our work, we’ll build practical coping skills while also exploring the deeper patterns that may be holding you back. My goal is to help you feel empowered, not just in session, but in your everyday life.
You don’t have to navigate life’s obstacles alone. When you’re ready to take the next step toward emotional wellness and personal growth, it would be my honor to walk alongside you in that journey.
Do you feel overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts, or like you’re constantly pushing through stress without actually feeling better?
Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside, but internally dealing with anxiety, burnout, or patterns that keep repeating in their lives or relationships.
I provide a supportive but structured space where we focus on understanding what’s driving these challenges and building practical tools to help you feel more in control.
My approach is collaborative and goal-oriented, so you leave sessions with strategies you can apply in your day-to-day life—not just something to think about.
If you’re ready to move forward and start making real changes, I’m here to help.
