My name is Michael and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. As a psychotherapist, my vocation is supporting individuals, working together on your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and learning to thrive from the comfort and convenience of your home or office, and when it is most convenient for you. My work commonly addresses individuals experiencing difficulties in life due to problems stemming from difficulties early in life, anxiety, depression, major life changes, academic challenges (undergrad, graduate, post-graduate studies), the discomfort of feelings that go along with hypervigilance, procrastination, and perfectionism. Sometimes, we need help from someone new, experienced with developing collaborative relationships to find strengths we take for granted, and to embrace that we can be the person we’re meant to be. Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or major life changes? Let’s talk! I do not prescribe medication, and I do not see clients under the age of 18.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The initial goal of therapy is to develop therapeutic rapport, and to build upon this in subsequent sessions. Achieving this with the people I work with allows to give space, in an environment of trust where you learn you really can do hard things, and that success suits you. Therapy within this environment trust in place offers the best potential opportunities for positive individualized treatment outcomes. The therapeutic relationship evolves through cooperation and collaboration, to help you feel your best as you determine your best path forward. Where you are when you begin therapy and where you want to go is an amazing journey. Please note: if you miss an appointment, or are late to a scheduled appointment by 15 minutes or more, you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
In therapy, the work is structured to help improve acceptance of yourself and the world around you, to process and better understand thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, to help you find your voice, feel that you belong and that you have a purpose.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
In my work, it's common to have conversations with people experiencing difficulty stemming from experiences early in life that result in discomfort from anxiety, depression, major life changes, academic challenges (undergrad, graduate, post-graduate studies), the confusing feelings that go along with achieving a milestone, only to experience 'imposter syndrome.' Ataraxia Psychotherapy, LLC offers online counseling sessions for adults living anywhere in the state of Georgia, Florida, or South Carolina.

Michael was one of the recommendations from available providers that accepted my insurance. This was my first therapy session ever and I felt very at ease and did not feel as though he was judging or waiting to criticize. I felt as though I was talking to someone that I could relate to immediately.
