Sometimes in our lives, we will have experiences that will require some form of intervention. Together, let's explore healthy interventions. Trauma doesn't have to mean catastrophic. My goal is to provide a safe space. To assist with the development or refinement of skills that will allow you to explore opportunities for change. The ability to motivate someone requires patience, understanding, and listening skills; truth and honesty. These are traits that I am empowered to bring to therapy.

My Professional Background and Counseling Philosophy My passion for mental health has shaped my work with individuals, families, and communities across a variety of settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients to enhance their well-being, drawing on my experience across diverse settings, including hospital Emergency Departments, psychiatric units, community organizations, and mental health agencies. My professional journey includes supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting those facing mental illness, and working with people who have experienced homelessness and hopelessness. I have also provided both individual and group therapy within clinical settings. Counseling Philosophy At the core of my counseling practice is the belief that meaningful change occurs through collaboration and purposeful effort. I view my clients as the experts in their own lives and encourage them to take an active role in their treatment by investing time and energy in the process. Together, we identify the outcomes that matter most to the client and work to ensure consistent progress toward those goals. My approach centers on empowering clients by fostering self-awareness and resilience, and I am dedicated to ensuring every individual feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. Commitment to Client Autonomy What distinguishes my counseling style is a steadfast commitment to honoring each client’s autonomy. For example, I have worked with clients who struggle with anxiety and self-doubt. By collaborating closely, we identify the client’s unique strengths and develop practical coping strategies tailored to their needs. As clients move through this process, they gradually regain their confidence and begin taking meaningful steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced for me the importance and effectiveness of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance. In every interaction, my focus is on achieving the best possible results and facilitating lasting, positive change.

We all face challenges—some big, some small—that can deeply impact our lives. These struggles can feel overwhelming, draining our mind, body, and spirit. I understand this personally, having walked through my own experiences with depression and anxiety. With the support of God, professionals, and family, I was able to grow stronger through those difficult times. My journey led me from Nursing into the field of Counseling, where I now feel called to help others find hope, healing, and strength in the midst of their own challenges.

In 2012 I began my grad school application essay by saying that it had taken me 62 years to discover what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have now been practicing for about 10 years and I bring to my practice a love for learning and exploring, combined with a steadfast belief in not only the ability, but the right of people to grow and heal. I use techniques from a number of therapeutic modalities, and even pull from my own life experience and my training as a coach. I prefer whenever possible to be client-led because I believe that we each have the answers we need within ourselves, and that you are the expert on you. That means my job is to develop a trusting relationship between us, to listen deeply, and reflect with you, encouraging and guiding you to reach your goals. I have more than 28 years of experience helping adults and adolescents work through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and everyday stress. I believe therapy should feel supportive and useful. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, and I tailor our work to your individual needs. Together, we can look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build healthier ways of coping, strengthen your confidence, and identify practical steps toward the changes you want to make. I use approaches that can help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I also incorporate mindfulness, emotional support, and practical strategies based on your needs and goals. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling heard and understood, while also gaining tools you can use in your everyday life. In Our First Session Together Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so our first session is focused on helping you feel comfortable and getting to know one another. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you would like to change, and any concerns or questions you may have. You are welcome to share at a pace that feels right for you. There is no expectation that you tell me everything during our first meeting. We can begin identifying your goals and discuss an approach that fits your needs. You will also have time to ask questions and decide whether we feel like a good fit for working together.

Hi, I'm so glad you're here! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Valdosta State University. I was born and raised in Nebraska but have made Georgia my home, and I truly love it here. I became a therapist because I genuinely care about people and believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate, meaningful support. I know that reaching out for help is not always easy, and I want you to know that taking that step says a lot about your strength and your commitment to yourself. My goal is to make sure that from the moment you connect with me, you feel welcome, heard, and comfortable. I am an animal lover through and through, and that love has found a natural home in my clinical practice. I incorporate pet therapy into my work with clients, and I have seen firsthand the incredible impact that a furry friend can have on even the most difficult days. Whether it helps break the ice, ease anxiety, or simply bring a moment of joy into a hard season, it is one of my favorite tools to offer. Outside of my passion for animals, I am deeply committed to doing work that matters. I show up for my clients with honesty, warmth, and a whole lot of heart. I believe in meeting people where they are, walking alongside them through the hard stuff, and celebrating the wins along the way — big and small. If you are looking for a therapist who will be real with you, root for you, and work hard alongside you, I would love to connect. I can't wait to meet you.
