Starting therapy can feel empowering, confusing, or even intimidating—and it’s worth taking a moment to recognize the courage it takes to take this first step toward caring for your mental health. Hello, my name is Takiyah Thomas Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida with 5 years of experience. I am a multilingual (English, Spanish, & Portuguese) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with clinical experience working with athletes, college students, children, adolescents, and adults, including 2SLGBTQIA+, Latinx, immigrant, and foster/adopted parenting communities. I presently most consistently work with clients who have OCD and/or anxiety-related disorders, a history of developmental (complex) trauma, and/or high-achieving professionals, especially healthcare and other service workers. As an endurance athlete, fellow athletes have also found the blend of my clinical experience along with lived experience in athletics, as well as embodiment of the athletic mindset, helpful in understanding them and their presenting concerns. I work with clients individually, dyadically, and in groups. I hope to convey warmth, compassion, and non-judgmental curiosity to every client with whom I am honored to enter into a clinical partnership. Meeting you where you are at, my aim is to provide a safe and confidential environment in which we can collaboratively explore factors that may be impeding your ability to live an engaged and meaningful life on your terms, as well as ways to overcome them. My responsibility as a clinician is to help you feel seen, heard, and understood after every session and more deeply connected to your mind, body, and heart. Recognizing that healing does not occur in a vacuum, I approach my clinical work through an inclusive liberation-focused lens that acknowledges systems of oppression, validates their impact on you, and champions your identities with respect to gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion and spirituality, neurodivergence, body expression and body size, and dis/ability. Navigating the intersection of our respective individual identities through open dialogue, with careful consideration of privileged and historically marginalized identities, is of the highest importance to me.

Life is complicated enough—and it doesn’t come with a manual. But therapy can be a space where we begin drafting one, together. My goal is to help you live more authentically, compassionately, and in better company with yourself, one step at a time. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, and existential therapy to meet you where you are. I’m a trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, client-centered therapist who takes a holistic view of healing. I graduated with a Master's degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University in 2021, I obtained my post-graduate license to practice social work in 2024. I have experience supporting individuals navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and personality disorders. Together, we’ll build a strong therapeutic alliance, identify unhelpful thought patterns and core beliefs, and work toward sustainable, meaningful change. I believe healing is deeply personal, and no two journeys look the same. As Carl Sagan once said: "I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way."

My name is Shavone Marie Williams-Moss, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I entered the field of social work largely because of my family background; I was raised by a single father while my mother struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues and could not perform her role as a parent. One day as an adult in my 20's, I saw my mother sitting on a bench on the main street in Kentucky. I welcomed her into my home only to discover she not only suffered from homelessness but bipolar disorder, major depression, and substance abuse. My mother lived with me for a year, after which she passed away. This situation made me wonder, what if, in her younger years, she would have met someone who was supportive, understanding, kind, selfless, and invested in helping her be the best version of her, she could be. It was then that I decided to enter the Social Work Field. I wanted to provide help to those who could not help themselves and aid to those in need.

I strive to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood, so you can begin to feel relief knowing your healing journey is underway. I want you to feel proud of yourself for taking the step to prioritize your mental health; it truly matters. My style is warm, patient, encouraging, and direct in a way that supports growth without feeling harsh or overwhelming. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida with a Master of Social Work (MSW), and I work with teens, young adults, couples, families, and individuals across the lifespan. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and evidence-based strategies for anxiety and emotional well-being. In our work together, I focus on helping you better understand yourself, process what you’re going or have gone through, and build practical tools to manage anxiety, trauma, depression, and life’s daily challenges. I believe in supporting healing from a trauma-informed lens while also empowering you to recognize your own strengths and growth along the way. If you’re feeling nervous about starting therapy, I often remind clients: Life will always bring challenges, and we all need support in navigating them. Seeking help is not something to be ashamed or afraid of; it’s a meaningful sign of strength and growth. Plus, there is a world of possibilities on the other side of your fear. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have been licensed since 1996. I work with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, attachment related issues, and a wide variety of trauma related situations, particularly with military personnel and first responders. I also have extensive post graduate training in areas related to neuropsychology, adoption, custody, child abuse, and forensics. I am qualified as an expert in these areas in several court jurisdictions in Florida and have worked internationally as well (Japan and Europe) in context with the military and internationals from Japan, Italy, and England. My doctoral research areas were Case Conceptualization and Attachment/Adult Psychopathology and I have served as an adjunct professor in clinical mental health My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I consider our therapeutic relationship as one as "an exchange of ideas". My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, psychodynamic and developmental based counseling. I am well trained in other modalities as well. I understand that it takes courage to seek help, and it's not easy to face fear. I do not believe that "you are your diagnosis". Rather, I will view you "as a a unique individual facing some challenges". My background and training is unique, and I think you will find that I see things very differently than most clinicians. I look forward to working with you!

Hi, and welcome. I’m really glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward healing isn’t always easy, and the fact that you’re exploring support says a lot about your strength. Life can throw unexpected challenges our way, and sometimes those challenges make even the day‑to‑day feel overwhelming. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and qualified supervisor in the state of Florida. Since 2014, I’ve worked as a medical social worker in transplant, dialysis, and with individuals managing complex chronic and behavioral health needs. These experiences have taught me the importance of meeting people exactly where they are and honoring their lived experience. If you’re looking for a provider who will work with you to clarify your goals and create meaningful change, I invite you to schedule an initial consultation.

Hello! I’m a Florida-based Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, families, and groups across outpatient, inpatient, residential, and school-based settings. These experiences have taught me that no two people or stories are alike. My goal is to provide a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself as you navigate stress, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. As a former competitive athlete, I’ve learned firsthand the value of perseverance, resilience, teamwork, and showing up even when things feel difficult. These experiences have shaped both who I am and how I approach therapy. I see therapy as a partnership built on trust, genuine connection, and empathy. I use an integrative, evidence-based approach tailored to your unique needs, while meeting you where you are and working together to understand what matters most to you.

I am first and foremost a lover of people. My approach is authentic, supportive, empathetic, and understanding of the difficulties many experience in life having to manage mental health symptoms, feelings of being alone/misunderstood, dealing with the ramifications of historical trauma and the impact these can have on one's current relationships. My greatest strength is quickly building rapport and focusing on holistic wellness (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically) and the connection between them. I am devoted to best care practices and excellent service delivery. I align myself well and tend to the immediate needs, desires, and goals of the person I'm working with. I don't believe that therapy is about learning to 'suffer less' but to work towards realizing one's full potential and highest level of functioning, identifying and working to resolve barriers that stand in the way, and developing the ability to trust in oneself, and one's ability to thrive in life. Every goal that is important to my client is important to me.

I completed my Masters in 2005, while also starting my journey in the field in 2004. I spent a year working in Opiate addiction but my true passion was children and families. I moved on to intensive services, working with underserved children and their families in rural areas, from 2005-2007. After leaving that position, I moved onto a company doing similar work. where I continued to work with children, families and adults that were underserved for 5 more years. I provided therapy in homes, schools and the office setting. I began to focus in on Trauma work as well as anxiety disorders to include OCD and all other anxiety disorders. After spending nearly 10 years in the field, I decided to get my license in the state of Florida (LMHC-Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and move into a management role where I worked for the past 13 years while also maintaining private clients. I supervise therapists, working to become licensed, so I spend a lot of time consulting on cases of all kinds. In this time I was also trained in various forms of trauma based cognitive behavioral approaches as well as EMDR (still learning however).

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in Florida that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
