I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who specializes in helping adults heal from trauma and unhealthy or abusive relationships—whether those relationships are with people, substances, or patterns that have become difficult to break. Many of my clients know something is hurting them but still struggle to let go, find themselves returning to familiar cycles, or feel they’ve lost parts of themselves along the way. My approach is warm, direct, trauma-informed, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I integrate evidence-based therapy with existential and depth-oriented perspectives to explore not only what is happening, but why certain relationships and patterns can feel so difficult to change. Together, we’ll work to understand what keeps you stuck, strengthen self-trust, develop healthier ways of coping and relating, and reconnect with the person you want to be.
The first session is really about getting to know you and understanding what brought you here. You don’t need to have your story organized or know exactly what you want to work on. We’ll talk about what’s been happening, what feels most important right now, and what you’d like to be different. I’ll ask questions to understand the bigger picture, but we’ll go at your pace. There’s no expectation that you share anything you’re not ready to talk about. By the end of the session, I want you to have a better sense of what may be keeping you stuck, where we can start, and whether I feel like the right therapist for you. Most importantly, you should leave feeling like you were able to be yourself and that I actually understood what you were trying to say.
I bring a balance of empathy and honesty into my sessions. I’m not here to judge you, but I’m also not going to just nod along. I’ll ask questions, point out patterns, and help you look at things from angles you may not have considered before. I’m naturally curious about people and what’s underneath the choices we make, especially the ones we keep repeating even when we know they’re hurting us. I want to understand your story and how you got here, not just focus on a list of symptoms. I also use humor when it fits. Life is hard enough, therapy doesn't have to be. Sometimes being able to laugh, be yourself, and feel like you’re talking to another human makes it easier to do the harder work. My style is flexible rather than one-size-fits-all. I draw from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, existential therapy, and Jungian/depth approaches depending on what makes sense for you.
My ideal client is someone who knows something in their life isn’t working but is having a hard time breaking the cycle. You may find yourself returning to unhealthy or abusive relationships, struggling to let go of someone who hurt you, using substances to cope, or wondering why you keep repeating patterns you logically know aren’t good for you. I especially enjoy working with adults healing from trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, difficult family dynamics, addiction and recovery, and relationship patterns that have affected their sense of self. I also work with veterans and people navigating major life transitions or questions around identity and purpose. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. What matters most to me is that you’re curious about yourself and willing to look honestly at what’s keeping you stuck. Our work is about understanding where these patterns came from, what keeps them going, and what it would look like to choose differently.
I believe we all develop stories about who we are based on our life experiences, especially the ones that have shaped us most deeply. Narrative therapy helps us make sense of those experiences, separate you from the problems you're facing, and create a story that reflects your strengths, resilience, and values rather than your pain alone.
I use CBT to help clients recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, challenge beliefs that may no longer serve you, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges.
I use existential therapy to help clients explore questions of meaning, identity, purpose, freedom, and personal responsibility. Together, we'll examine what truly matters to you and how your values can guide the life you want to create, especially during times of uncertainty or transition.
I integrate Jungian concepts to help clients explore recurring patterns, dreams, symbolism, and the deeper aspects of their inner world when it aligns with their goals. This approach can increase self-awareness and provide insight into experiences that may be difficult to understand through logic alone.
Rather than telling you what you should do, I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore your own motivations for change. Together, we'll work through uncertainty, strengthen your confidence, and build on your own reasons for moving toward the life you want.
