New to Grow
My name is Shannalei Henry, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), an Afro Latina, believer, wife, mother, daughter, friend, and lover of all things travel/food/adventure. I am a Connecticut native with undergraduate, graduate, and working experience in New York and currently reside in South Florida. I have been in the field since 2015 and I have worked in the field with different ages (3 years old to late 50s), various cultures and ethnicities, and placements. My method with clients is creating individualized plans tailored to assist each client in achieving their personal and professional goals.
Client's will have someone in their corner. In the first session you will experience a safe space to share you goals, what has been troubling you, and a collaborative discussion on how I can best support you to accomplish your goals.
I now sit in the place of therapist but have also been a client. I know and understand the anxieties that can come up as a client when you are first meeting a therapist. I also understand wanting to have a trusting relationship with a therapist. As someone that will be in your corner I create an individualized plan that is holistic and may include certain parts of different modalities that best support your healing process.
Helping adults (ages 18-45) and corporate leaders navigate difficult transitions, overcome self-image struggles, trauma and build deep emotional resilience. To further explain, client's that are navigating life transitions such as change in relationships, changes at work or occupation, loss (such as death or moving from one place or another), etc. Client's struggling with self esteem/self worth issues and client's having relationship issues. Many of these core issues can cause anxiety, depression, mood issues, etc which are issues that I also help client's navigate.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I work with clients who are navigating change in their life and ACT is a method that can be extremely helpful in reaching the goal of adjusting to change.
Christian Counseling
I use Christian principles in combination with therapeutic practices in sessions with client's that are seeking faith based, more specifically Christian, understanding in their therapeutic journey.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
For client's struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, etc. CBT is a way to understand and work through the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma is very sensitive and navigating it must be done delicately. Depending on the client and their needs Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be used to support client.
Motivational Interviewing
As a therapist it is not my job or intention to tell a client what to do but to work with them and be in their corner. With this method client's are able to look at the pros and cons and make informed decisions for best next steps.
