New to Grow
I provide individual and couples therapy to adults. I received my master's degree from FAU and have training and expertise in a variety of mental health and behavioral health areas, including, but not limited to,addiction, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and trauma. I have spent time to receive training to be diverse. I am passionate about helping others. I became a social worker for that reason. I have been helped and want to help others learn to treat themselves with the love and respect they deserve as well as improve their happiness.
For the first session I will be getting to know you, and you will be getting to interview me as well. I hope to connect with a person and start to create a trusting relationship bound by my professional ethics. I will ask a little about your life and your goals, your experience and your strengths, even if you don't believe you have any.
I was in the addiction field for years. I have worked with individuals and couples as well as with children and aging. I am diverse. I actually teach skillets. My goal is to teach myself out of a job . I have seen many clients and the number one thing I have heard is "you are not like most therapists". I will not just go "uh huh", I will truly listen and genuinely try to help you by giving you tools to use and hold you a little accountable for using them.
I best serve those who need help, but can complete their Activities of Daily Living. I do not mean that you feel well or are functioning well, just that you are functioning. I have dealt with these with burnout and boreout as well , I have dealt with alexthymia and emotional blindness. I have experience with trauma and PTSD as well. I am a very well rounded therapist.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help with Trauma, anxiety and depression. This helps change the negative core beliefs that keep one feeling badly about themselves and others.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to help with emotional regulation with those who are diagnosed with personality disorder and Bipolar Disorder. This helps with impulsivity and self soothing.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
Using Exposure therapy in DX such as OCD. If you cannot stop ruminating and have thoughts you are afraid to share due to them being too shameful and have skyrocketing anxiety, this can help with ruminating compulsions as well as giving one's freedom back to them , so things do not have to be "just right" to move throughout one's day.
