A deep curiosity for why we all act and think the way we do coupled with my own life’s challenges and experiences has led me to a place of compassion for not only my own life choices but compassion for others. As a woman, mother, wife, and veteran I know all too well the shame that comes with our personal choices and behaviors. I'm Maryam, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida (born and raised) of Venezuelan descent (bilingual in Spanish). I graduated from USF with majors in Psychology and Health Sciences and then obtained my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from FGCU. Since then I have been able to have diverse, unique experiences with a mobile crisis unit, outpatient counseling, addiction treatment, and tele-health therapy. I make sure to create a non-judgmental, safe, and welcoming environment where we can address your treatment goals at your own pace. I like to take a holistic approach while also integrating an array of interventions from art/music therapy, challenging negative self-talk, solution-focused, "care-frontation," and more.
