New to Grow
Hi! I'm Taylor Griner, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, with over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University and have dedicated my career to working alongside clients as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. I use they/them pronouns and proudly identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. While I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life and don't make my own identity a focus in session, I think it can be important for LGBTQ+ clients to see their identities represented in their care providers. I believe therapy should be a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly seen and heard for who you are. I believe in a trauma-informed approach focusing on your strengths and ability to grow. I'm warm, empathetic, direct, and curious to learn more about you and what makes you...you! Whether we're delving into your past, managing current stressors, or working to achieve future goals, I look forward to meeting you where you're at and navigating your unique story together.
From the beginning, my goal is to create a welcoming environment, where we can start getting to know one another. We’ll start by exploring what brings you to therapy, learning about your history, and identifying your goals. I bring my authentic self to the room and understand therapy can be a scary endeavor at first. I think it’s important to go at your pace without pressure to share everything at once. No one knows you better than you and I like to use the experience and education I have to work together through the different concerns and goals you have. Sessions together might look different depending on the day but you can expect to explore your inner experience, learn new skills, and ultimately, to grow. This is your space and your time. I’m here to honor you and your journey, to act as a support and guide to get you where you want to be.
My biggest strength as a therapist lies in my ability to be flexible and meet my clients where they’re at. I gauge what my clients need and adapt my approach to meet those needs. You can expect me to show up authentically, to work collaboratively, and to honor and trust your experience. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of therapy being effective! Some people think therapy doesn’t work after trying it once or twice, but I genuinely think you may not have found the right therapist for you yet! I’m a therapist who is pretty direct, down to earth, and has never been accused of being stuffy. I like to balance giving my clients support and validation with feedback and challenges when needed. I pride myself in my desire to continue learning and growing which means if there’s something you want changed in our time together, I’m open to that feedback and will do my best to make the changes needed to best help you.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and identities, with a focus on young adults, the LGBTQ+ community, and those adjusting to major life changes. My clinical training includes EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am person centered which ultimately means I’m here to support you and what you need. I do my best work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, identity concerns, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges. Many of the clients I work with carry the unseen weight of past experiences—experiences that have shaped their sense of self, impacted relationships, or made it hard to feel safe in an ever-changing world. Our work will often focus on reconnecting with yourself, addressing relationship concerns such as people-pleasing and poor boundaries, and learning how to navigate this complicated world we live in.
You've probably noticed by now, I'm big on meeting clients where they're at, which also translates to my treatment methods differing depending on your needs. My approach utilizes evidence-based modalities, including DBT (which can help you navigate big emotions, improve your relationship with yourself and others, and navigate crises), Solution-Focused (for those wanting to solve problems without delving too far into the past), EMDR (to address trauma), and attachment-based theory to help you understand how you relate to others.
