I am a Marriage Family Therapist, and I have been in practice for over 25 years. I am a firm believer that the system in which an individual was raised has an impact on how an individual's personal relationships, behavior pattern, and life choices are interconnected with the issue they face in their life. The good news is that we all have the ability of changing the patterns we want to change in our lives. It is your own personal story, and you decide on the ending.

Many of the therapeutic issues we work together on are Self-esteem, relationships, communication, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, Social skills, and grief. I am a licensed therapist and have a Masters Degree in counseling. I have spent many years counseling children, adolescents, and adults. Although therapy may look different with each population, the process is equally meaningful in all sessions.

I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfilling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!

Mental illness is as real as any physical illness. We talk normally about cancer and diabetes, although the same should apply to mental illness. Emotional and mental health are just as important as the physical health of a human being. The emotional trauma that a brain endures in various of the human life cycle can be damaging and in the long run, just as detrimental as a psychical illness.
People donate their organs, but they cannot donate their brains. Some people live with human-made hearts, but there is no such thing as human-made brains. I believe that our brain is the most important organ in our human body, so why don’t we start taking good care of it?
Therapy is not only for people with mental illness. Therapy is for everyone. We all have faced or currently face some hardships in life. Talking to a therapist can help you deeply in improving your mental health, decrease your stress and live with more joy and intention! Make your appointment today!
Taking the step toward therapy is a deeply personal journey, and I want you to feel at ease from the very first session. Hi, my name is Lucretia Reed and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas (License #79891). My counseling technique is unique in nature. I am genuine, supporting, and honest while also holding my clients accountable to the hard work often required in the counseling process. I have provided services as a school counselor, in the outpatient mental health settings, and telehealth counseling settings. I have a passion for helping anyone in need. My personality and determination are often replicated in the counseling relationship to help my clients reach their goals. My experience includes providing services to adolescence, young adults and adults who come from diverse backgrounds. Having worked with clients in the foster care system, adults in transitional homes, at risk youth, domestic violence victims, and families in crisis and some of the setting in which I have worked with clients.
I am someone who likes to make a difference. I love helping people, and love seeing the changes client's can make when they know the path through. My therapeutic approach is inspired by a profound message from one of my favorite therapists: “You may feel like you're in the desert right now, but I will walk beside you. I won't pull you or push you. When you're tired, we'll rest. When you're scared, I'll stand with you. When you're sad, I'll sit with you. Together, we will reach the other side.” These words continue to resonate deeply with me and shape my compassionate, supportive practice.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for ten years now. You will always know yourself better than I can or will.
From a philosophical and theoretical standpoint. I am overwhelming more of an attachment theorist, and have been known to use existentialism from time to time to help make sense of something. I guess the question that remains though is; can a butterfly flap it's wings in Brazil and cause a tornado in Kentucky, or are we all simply just products of our childhood and mirrors of our parents traumas?
The duality of life.
Attachment Theory vs. Chaos Theory. Both have value. I digress.
My goal is to provide a petridish in which you can explore your self. Safe. Contained. Yet completely in your control. The paradox being, you likely already have what you need. I'll sit with you while you find it. I can give you my clinical opinion, or diagnosis, and recommendations along the way as well if you'd like that. I can just sit and listen. I can play devils advocate. My job is to listen, empower, observe, and provide feedback when requested.
Check out my website to learn about me, my background and experience, and how I may help you or your loved ones reach your goals! It probably explains more than you'd really want to know. I am also very open to questions about myself, because our match together is more important than my skill alone, or your motivation to change!
