I am Shanae Hudson, a licensed clinical social worker and the owner of Growth Explored, LLC. I work with adults who are navigating trauma, relationship challenges, identity shifts, and periods of transition that leave them feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck despite their efforts to move forward. My approach to therapy is integrative and body-informed. I draw from somatic, attachment-based, relational, narrative, and polyvagal-informed frameworks to help clients understand how past experiences shape present-day patterns. Together, we explore how stress, trauma, and relational wounds show up in the nervous system, in relationships, and in the stories you carry about yourself. Therapy is not about fixing what is broken, but about increasing awareness, choice, and compassion for the parts of you that learned to survive. I specialize in working with individuals who have a history of emotional neglect, relational trauma, or long-term stress and who may struggle with boundaries, emotional regulation, people pleasing, or disconnection from their body. Many of my clients are thoughtful, high-functioning, and deeply self-reflective, yet find themselves exhausted by carrying too much alone. In our work together, I offer a steady, collaborative space that moves at a pace aligned with your capacity. We focus on building internal resources, strengthening nervous system regulation, and developing practical tools that support sustainable change. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and empowered in your life, relationships, and sense of self, so that therapy becomes a supportive chapter rather than a permanent dependency.

You have been holding it together for so long that falling apart started to feel like a betrayal. Of your family. Of everyone who is counting on you. Of the version of yourself you worked so hard to become. So instead of feeling it, you found other ways to get through the night. The scroll. The glass of wine. The food that fills something that isn't hunger. Whatever it takes to take the edge off a life that should feel good by now but somehow still doesn't. And then someone you love said something, or looked at you a certain way, and something in you cracked open just enough to see it. That maybe this isn't just stress. That maybe you have been disappearing for a long time and calling it strength. You are not broken. But you have been abandoning yourself, and some part of you has always known it. This is the space where that stops. Where you are finally allowed to put it down, feel what you have been outrunning, and remember who you are underneath all of it. Not the strong one. Not the dependable one. Just you — which has always been more than enough. When you are ready, I am here to welcome you to the therapy space.

Welcome, I am Feven! Do you feel pulled in a million directions, unable to fit it all in? Are you struggling to keep up with your relationships, work and health? Is it hard to be kind to yourself? I help individuals manage anxiety, depression and burnout. Together, we can identify what's not working and get you back to balance. We'll use a whole self approach; addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the different challenges they face and build coping skills to create more fulfilling and holistic life experiences. From my journey, I can personally attest to the power of support, in its many forms. This support goes beyond clients I service but also to their families and communities. I believe that mental wellness isn’t just individualistic; but includes the ecosystem surrounding the person. My praxis acknowledges and aims to support the village needed by all.  I’m also passionate about the transformative impact of safe and brave spaces for those who often experience exclusion. My career has afforded me opportunities to build trust with LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and Refugee communities across the nation. It is a personal privilege to center wellness and holistic care for all as ‘self-care is a radical form of resistance.’ Whether you're dealing with overwhelm, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, trauma, PTSD, self-acceptance, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion, empathy and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!

Hello, my name is Michelle. I believe therapy is a time to examine internalized experiences that shape our perspectives and behaviors. Engaging in introspective work together can challenge us to reframe maladaptive thoughts. I aim to assist clients with managing emotional dysregulation and symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, and trauma in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I hope to foster growth and strengthen coping skills during difficult transitional points in a person’s life. I am interested in exploring my clients' family of origin and attachment styles. Frequently asked questions

Why filter by District of Columbia rather than a neighborhood like Adams Morgan?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in District of Columbia. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across District of Columbia from The Navy Yard to Georgetown! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in District of Columbia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Peer Relationships?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Peer Relationships, is filtering therapists in District of Columbia that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
