Jocelyn Cruz
Hi, I’m Jocelyn Cruz, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Cruz Healing LLC. I’ve been in practice for 8 years, with experience as a Registered Behavioral Therapist, Mental Health Specialist, and personal counselor. I hold a Master’s in Forensic Psychology and support teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, behavioral challenges, and justice-system involvement with a warm, practical, trauma-informed approach. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your path toward healing and growth.
First session
Starting therapy can feel intimidating — that’s completely normal. Our first session is really about getting to know each other and making sure you feel comfortable. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You can share as much or as little as you’re ready to — there’s no pressure to “tell everything” right away. I move at your pace (: I’ll ask some questions about your background, current stressors, relationships, and coping patterns so I can better understand the full picture. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and discuss how I can best support you using approaches like trauma-informed care, CBT, and solution-focused strategies.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I integrate Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and strength-based, solution-focused interventions. I prioritize emotional regulation skills, healthy communication, and practical coping strategies that clients can apply immediately in their daily lives.
Treatment methods
Trauma-Focused CBT
For clients impacted by trauma, I use evidence-based strategies to reduce trauma symptoms, improve emotional regulation, and safely process painful experiences. Treatment is structured, supportive, and paced to your readiness.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate grounding skills, emotional regulation tools, and present-moment awareness to help reduce anxiety, overwhelm, and reactivity. Clients learn practical techniques to calm the nervous system and feel more in control.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
When you need practical change now, we focus on strengths, resilience, and small, achievable steps forward. I help you clarify goals, identify what’s already working, and build momentum toward meaningful progress.
Multicultural
As a bilingual (English/Spanish) clinician, I provide therapy that honors identity, culture, immigration experiences, systemic stressors, and family dynamics. Your lived experience matters — we work within your cultural values, not against them.
Psychodynamic
Sometimes we repeat patterns without realizing why. In our work together, we’ll gently explore how past relationships and early experiences may be influencing your current emotions, reactions, and connection styles — so you can respond with more awareness and choice.
