The therapy I provide is supportive and compassionate where you can feel truly heard, validated, and accepted just as you are. My intention is to help you find your voice and use it in a meaningful way, to help you transform the way that you interact with yourself, your family, and the world. Sometimes this means changing your communication style, or just learning to feel more comfortable. You may feel weighed down by depression, codependency, responsibility, or addictive behaviors, or you might struggle with asserting boundaries and standing up for your own needs. Whether you’re navigating identity issues, working through past traumas, or simply seeking greater meaning in your life or relationships, change is possible.

When we experience severe trauma or life stressors, our lives can start to collapse into a day-to-day struggle. Our normal coping mechanisms and our support systems can start to fail or no longer be enough to help pull us through the difficult time. The truth is, we cannot change our life experiences, but we can search to find solutions to help us overcome depression, addiction, anxiety, relationship difficulties. We can grow and become aware of our own strengths as we face our struggles. Sometimes we need that extra help to aid us in regaining life balance in our journey of self-discovery. As a licensed family therapist with eight years of experience, I am passionate about helping adults navigate & explore complex challenges in order to work towards positive changes that are solution based.

After nearly three decades as a psychodynamic therapist, I've seen firsthand how profound self-reflection and a willingness to explore our hidden parts can lead to true healing. My extensive experience, built on rigorous training in psychodynamic theory, allows me to guide you in understanding how unconscious processes, developmental influences, and early relationships shape your current experiences. I offer a space where we can delve deeply into the unconscious roots of your emotional difficulties and behavioral patterns. This often involves powerful inner child healing, helping you connect with and nurture earlier parts of yourself that may be carrying unresolved pain. We'll also engage in shadow work, integrating the unacknowledged aspects of yourself, and explore your dreams to uncover symbolic insights. Our work will aim toward a more integrated sense of Self, moving beyond the public persona to embrace your authentic being. My approach is deeply rooted in humanistic principles, particularly those of Person-Centered (Rogerian) Therapy. This means I prioritize creating a genuinely empathetic, non-judgmental, and unconditionally accepting environment. I believe you possess an innate capacity for growth and self-actualization, and my role is to facilitate that journey. To complement this depth work with practical support, I strategically integrate select tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This provides you with concrete skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, empowering you to manage intense feelings and navigate daily challenges more effectively while we work on deeper transformation. Ultimately, my goal is to foster profound insight, enable lasting change, and help you develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Hi! My name is Jose Rodriguez, I have been working in behavioral health since 2008, and it has been a very rewarding experience. I have an energetic and enthusiastic approach. Please note that I am licensed in both California and New York. I stay up to date with the latest studies to provide the best care possible. I am well versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am originally from New York, so I have had the opportunity to gain experience at reputable institutions such as New York Presbyterian Hospital and Montefiore Health System. I have also served as Director of the Behavior Health Department at Salinas Valley Health in Salinas, California. I earned my BA in Psychology from Boston College and my Master of Social Work from Fordham University. I also earned my MBA in Healthcare Administration in 2019. Outside of work, I enjoy boxing, playing golf, yoga, lifting weights, and going to the beach! The goal in psychotherapy is for you to become your own therapist. We would achieve this in a collaborative and strategic manner. There has always been a need to address our emotional well being but until recent times, this topic is more accepted than ever to discuss. Not only do I help people address their problems, but I also aim to help people be self-actualizing.

Do you have an an issue or concern that you're currently going through and want to be able to feel heard and understood? As a licensed Clinical Social Worker I can provide a safe and welcoming place where you can feel open to share those concerns or worries. Together we can work toward creating more balance in your life. I use a collaborative style to build on your strengths and resources and use them as the foundation of the helping process. I have 21 years experience working with children, families, and individuals as a social worker, eight of them as a licensed clinician! Prior to training as a therapist I worked as and advocate for children, youth and families in various community based non-profits. The peace I felt in helping lift burdens for individuals and families was the energetic drive that led me to the path of clinical social work! I consider it a privilege to be invited and entrusted with the task of walking alongside you during a challenging moment in your life. Seeing you grow and succeed is one of the greatest reward I could ask for!
