New to Grow
Hello. My name is Kathleen. As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgemental space where you feel supported and understood. Together we'll explore your unique experiences and identify the strengths you already carry. Life brings both challenges and opportunities, and sometimes the transitions in between can feel overwhelming. If you are experiencing mild depression, anxiety, or navigating a major life change, you don't have to go through it alone.
In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and hear how you're doing. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy and why you've decided to start now. I also like to explore the goals you have for yourself in therapy so we can work together in a way that's meaningful for you. We'll go over any forms you received ahead of time and take a moment to answer any questions you might have about the process.
Listening to what you want to accomplish in Therapy and helping you get there. I will keep us on track. I will challenge you sometimes; I will listen with empathy; I will acknowledge your strengths ( and help you see them as well). This is your journey and we will be on it together.
I believe therapy is not only about reducing distress, but also about fostering growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Whether you're adjusting to a new chapter in life, seeking healthier coping strategies, or simply wanting to feel more grounded, I'm here to walk alongside you. I integrate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness techniques to help you manage symptoms, shift unhelpful thought patterns and find a new way forward. My ideal clients are those who are motivated to engage in the hard work of therapy and are open to exploring new ideas and perspectives that can support their growth.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy practices, along with Mindfulness and Strength Based approaches to support the client in their treatment goals. I like to partner with clients in their theraputic journey. I will challenge negative coping skills to help disrupt unhealthy patterns, while helping clients see they have the skills to change. I want to highlight the courage it takes to prioritize one's emotional wellbeing and will support clients in getting to their desired goals.
After getting to know the client and goals have been created, I like to review what worked well in the past, and why it worked then. I want to help the client see they indeed have the skills to implement positive change in their life right now; Of course, the work comes in figuring out whats not working now and creating a plan to move forward in reaching the goals they want to accomplish.
