Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) based in sunny southern California, with my partner, of many years, John, and our three cats, three dogs, and tortoise, who by the way, is currently hibernating...and don't we all wish we could do that at times? I have many years of experience working with individuals, with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship challenges. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings and with many ethnic populations. My style is down-to-earth, relatable, sometimes direct, and always with a touch of humor. I love what I do and consider it an honor to help you resolve whatever it might be that is holding you back. I look forward to working with you! By the way, a former client recently said: "I am so grateful to have worked with you, you are truly gifted, and I have learned so much!"
Our first session is all about getting to know each other. I consider therapy a collaboration. And so, we will work together comfortably, and safely as a team!
I am relatable and down-to-earth. I love what I do and listen with empathy. I consider it an honor to come together and have been in a helping field for so many years.
I love working with clients who feel stuck and have difficulty making decisions of any kind. These clients include, but are not limited to, professionals, adults, teens and many ethnic populations.
I typically utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral) as my main treatment method; however, I am very person-centered, and so depending on the situation, I am flexible and always willing to do what is appropriate for my clients. I've had positive feedback with CBT for getting past indecisiveness, avoidance, overthinking, and anticipatory anxiety but am trained in many treatment models.
I have, for many years, practiced mindfulness myself, and find it quite effective, and especially in this anxious world; it's a good thing to soothe your mind and body, and rediscover your innate peace and wellbeing!
Occasionally we all get stuck on a problem and it's just nice to talk to a neutral person who can come up with a method of dealing with or determining the answer to that problem!
My counseling brings together many different modalities, or methods. I do not have a cookie-cutter approach to counseling, as everyone is unique, and so my approach is flexible to develop the best fit for each client. I believe the relationship is a partnership, and so we are a team working together!
