What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will build rapport. I will ask you some questions and you will be encouraged to ask me questions as well. I want you to feel comfortable opening up during our sessions. I will then guide you to identify the goals for treatment that we will work on during our follow up sessions.

I have worked over the past 10 years in Ghana, Southern California and Northern California as a mental health therapist. I have developed a well-rounded approach to support my clients identify their needs, purpose in life and identifying how to create healthier relationships. I also welcome my clients to discuss the difficult topics of race, sex, culture, and so forth. I allow my clients to be their true self in session.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized CBT in my practice for over 10 years. We will explore how our thoughts, feelings and behaviors impact each other. I will support you with processing and changing irrational thoughts. Together we will create a plan to help you live a more balanced and stress free life.

Motivational Interviewing

I have practiced Motivational Interviewing (MI) 10 years. We will work to identify motivating factors that encourage change. I will support, empower, provide empathy and acknowledge the challenges that come with the change. Overall, I will support you throughout this journey.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been trained in Trauma-Focused CBT for 8 years through University of Southern California. I have used this modality in community mental health settings while working with families. TF-CBT uses the cognitive behavioral principles, education, ways to cope with the trauma that involve the teen and caregiver.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for 8 years. I will teach you strategies to improve emotion regulation and how to identify triggers that are impacting your emotions and behaviors. We will work together to identify healthy coping strategies and identify ways ti improve your relationships.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I have practiced person centered therapy for 10 years. I will allow you to be the leader of your treatment. I will guide you and support you throughout the process. You are the leader of your treatment goals. We will work together to explore who you are and discover solutions.
