I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. I have 8+ years working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and experiences relating to LGBTQA+ and BIPOC communities. My practice is centered on helping people feel more connected to their inner emotional experiences, as well as their external environments with a sense of belonging, trust, and agency. Not everything can be expressed with words. Imagery, movement, and sound are tools I use, alongside talk-therapy to explore past the limitations of the mind and into the intuitive wisdom of the body and imagination. I am also trained in yoga facilitation and meditation, which allows for the option of incorporating body-oriented techniques within session. I approach each therapeutic relationship as a collaborative one. My style is warm, patient-led, and holistic, with focus on building a trusting bond.

I have been in the field for over 25 years and received my graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh with an LCSW and QCSW. Blah, Blah, Blah! But those things aren’t as vital as me sharing with you what I bring. As you can see from my pictures, I am very optimistic and happy. I bring this same spirit to the therapeutic process. I strongly believe in healing through humor, so I laugh and help things seem organic in the session. My office is small, quaint, warm, and cozy. It always has an effervescent, calming scent that relaxes the room. You can sit on the couch or in a comfortable chair, and we will casually discuss the week’s challenges. You are the driver of your ship, the master of your life. Please think of me as a passenger in your car, taking directions as you guide each week on how we need to address your treatment needs. My style is explorational, affirmative and always respectful of where you’ve come from and the goals you’d like to meet in the coming days. We’ll explore your personal myth—the one you’ve developed in your life experiences--and seek to add understanding and self-compassion. I am a Board-Certified Fellow in the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress licensed in Massachusetts and Florida, and I have earned two Masters degrees--my second Masters is in Counseling Psychology.

Hello and Welcome! I am a social worker who has been in the field for over 20 years. Early in my career, I was fortunate enough to work with a psychiatrist who believed there was more to treating mental health than medication. I participated in a training with him and I was transformed as a therapist. I was trained in the relaxation response and mindfulness meditation and using the body to help heal people who have had significant trauma and mental health challenges. From there, I went on to get my yoga teaching certification from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Since then, I have been helping children, adolescents and adults learn more about themselves and help them connect with the truest part of themselves. I believe part of my purpose is to help people learn to love themselves. I lived in CA for a long time and still hold my LCSW license. I was fortunate enough to study with a number of teachers at Spirit Rock Meditation Center who have influenced my work. I blend a number of different frameworks into my practice including trauma-informed CBT, DBT, somatic psychotherapy and self-compassion. I am mindful and respectful of all differences (racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, economic, gender, sexual orientation, ability etc.) and strive to understand each person within the context of their life history. Every person who seeks treatment has unique needs and goals. I strive to work collaboratively with you to keep your goals at the center of our work together. I stand in solidarity with the BIPOC community and all those impacted by systemic racism and oppression. I will uphold my own values and ethics and support all those who are speaking out against injustice of any kind. As a therapist, I am committed to creating a safe space for all.

Hello – I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and have several years’ experience working with individuals navigating severe and persistent mental illness in their adult years. I have several certifications and trainings completed specific to mood and thought disorders as well as within perinatal/maternal mental health. With my professional experience so far, I believe that I offer a wide variety of perspectives and insights that can be utilized to help meet diverse needs and goals, while continuing to learn and grow as a clinician with each client that I meet. I will provide support and encouragement as we work together to achieve your uniquely desired goals. In any unexpected challenge or life change, we can feel any number of complicated emotions or a confusing mix of emotions. My goal is not to push away or avoid these painful feelings but rather to validate, support and navigate these emotional experiences. I hope to support you in acknowledging your thoughts and feelings and how they relate to your experiences. Through this we can find ways for you to cope that you feel are genuine. We all deserve someone in our corner, someone to be our unbiased sounding board, to challenge us and to provide a space to air out our thoughts- let’s do this together.

+ I have been practicing clinical social work since I received my Masters in 1986. Settings I have worked in include: community mental health agencies, youth residential programs, schools (elementary, middle and high school), remote therapy platforms. I love my work and easily connect with all types of clients, placing importance on building trusting therapeutic alliances. I believe that patients exhibit courage to engage in the therapeutic process. I view the therapeutic alliance between myself and client as a partnership. Throughout the process I make sure to check in with the client about how they are perceiving things such as the development of the relationship and the pace of the process for the client. I am always open to feedback.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Massachusetts rather than a city like Boston?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Massachusetts from Springfield to Cape Cod! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Massachusetts.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
