About me

I am 36 yo with a complex mental health history of my own. I use my life experiences and what has worked for me and former clients to help whatever situation you are stuck in. Therapy to me is a joint effort between client and therapist that is constantly re-evaluated to make sure we are on track to the desired result. If I am currently not accepting clients, please check back in a week; clients are always stopping or graduating, leaving openings again.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session we review what is needed for GROW and for your insurance. We will start to get to know each other and start to set goals. We will take baseline measurements with psych assessments such as phq. (these are simple surveys) The first session is where you should express concerns and ask questions, although I always allow for re-evaluations.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is I am non-judgmental and not surprised or shocked by terrible traumas. I use a lot of the suggestions I make to control my own mental health. I am always genuine.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have worked well with those with complex trauma history and or addictions. I also am good at helping raise self esteem and set SMART goals. (specific measurable attainable realistic timed) I am no expert with dysphoria but I am open and willing to work with it.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use a combination of techniques. Mostly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which uses the connection between thoughts behaviors and feelings.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am fully trained in DBT. I usually use the skills separate from the outlined curriculum sessions.

Trauma Informed Care

I have multiple trauma informed care certifications. One type including TF-CBT the trauma informed version of CBT using a gentle exposure to trauma narratives. Alternatively I also use EMDR which requires no disclosing of a narrative.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is usually best with anxiety disorders to escape the anxiety cycle. The cycle is caused by avoiding things that make us anxious which increases the anxiety in the long run.

No two sessions with her are the same, she is very oriented on piecing things together and connecting each part with one another to lead to bigger realizations. She has a very understanding and patient demeanor when it comes to asking questions and allows for me to double back when I may have misunderstood a question. Overall she has been a phenomenal therapist and an even better teacher with educating me further on emotional knowledge and understanding.

It is great to be reconnected with Ellen! We went through some intake questions and those questions led to many situations happening in my life that I clearly need help with. She formulated a plan for moviing forward whic I'm super happy with. She is excellent at her job and I'm excited to get started.
