I received my BA in English, Creative Writing from Bates College in Maine, and my Masters in Clinical Social Work from Smith College in Massachusetts. I have practiced for over 20 years in emergency services, community mental health and college settings in MA, VT and RI. I have an interest in complex trauma and how that has shaped a person's sense of self. My goal is to work with clients to improve quality of life, reduce shame and guilt and provide a senes of overall self compassion and self worth. I believe strongly that my clients are not their diagnosis, but human beings filled with personal experiences that have created behaviors and perspectives unique to their biology, psychology and social existence. I have also received certification in EMDR, trauma informed equine assisted psychotherapy, and trauma informed mindfulness.
The first session you and I will learn about reasons you are coming, and clarify goals you have. I will answer any questions about modalities I use (CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, interpersonal, relational, narrative), and together we will determine next steps.
I have an informal, relational approach, with the goal of better understanding your experience through patterns that have proven useful or less useful throughout your development.
I enjoy working with people of all ages, race and gender identity.

Meghan has been amazing. I've been in and out of therapy for 25+ years. Had several talented therapists who were great listeners and provided assistance when I needed it. But it felt like they wouldn't dig deep enough to get to the root cause of the problems or hold me accountable. Not only does Megan help me dive deep into issues I like to avoid talking about, she also keeps me honest about doing the hard work. Therapy is a two-way street And she helps me navigate that

So far, so good. I would check all of the boxes if we weren’t limited to two boxes. Very open minded, asks good questions, patient and attentive. A good fit.
